I am so relieved that this report is saying that what we all knew and the toxic ‘over diagnosis’ and ‘snow flake’ slurs , can be shut down. It’s been harrowing for our young and their parents and costly! The prevailing narrative and lack of action has been totally unacceptable.

“The system does need rethinking. It is failing too many young people”. On an @ObserverUK Walk around Regents Park, I talked to best-selling author Katherine Rundell about the danger of a curriculum that “privileges testing over experience” and why she writes for children not adults observer.co.uk/news/observer…

An important point for all the people who claim the answer to mental illness is the "right" medication, and that's before we even get to unwanted & distressing effects
Replying to @Normanjam67
This is horrible. As a pharmacist with extensive experience in MH I can tell you that even a patient who has good adherence to their MH meds regimen can still experience delusions, debilitating to their everyday life incl. work. Can be a huge struggle just to get through the day.

We’ve produced an infographic to help you push back against stories about people fraudulently claiming PIP (Personal Independence Payment). As shown, the rate of claimant fraud of PIP is less than 1% and there is no evidence of significant fraud by claimants of PIP. 1/6

As a mental health nurse, it is so unhelpful when politicians equate recovery with getting back to work. Whilst it’s true that as people recover they will likely return to work, and that work can be a huge part of recovery, one’s wellness and value is not derived from it. Many suffer poor mental health and remain in work. Many people need time out to properly recover. If their primary goal is to get people back to work they are not mental health hubs, they are DWP hubs.

Millions in England face longer waits for mental health care as NHS providers plan cuts. Inadequate funding and staff cuts for a creaking service. Due to poverty, insecurity, anxiety and stress 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem each year. theguardian.com/society/2026…

Note the deliberate linking of MH & employment support. You don't see cancer & employment support centres

Based on the model of Southdown's 'Staying Well' service, which provides "mental health and employment support" southdown.org/services/stayi… And this will be one of the 'emergency' centres. An "alternative to A&E" offering 24/7 employment support?

Our Chair Rachel Bannister joined @markaustintv @SkyNews to discuss #mentalhealth drop-in centres. Early intervention is vital but funding&workforce capacity matter too. Rachel is calling for Peer-Supported #OpenDialogue training, linked to up to 5x higher staff retention.
