Just realized George Church, who I know well and is the Harvard/MIT genetics legend, CRISPR pioneer, and one of the most important scientists alive, is raising for his gene therapy company Rejuvenate Bio on Wefunder. This is equity crowdfunding under Regulation CF. Everyday people (not just VCs or the ultra-rich) can invest as little as a few hundred dollars and own actual equity in a company spun out of his lab. One-shot AAV therapies that have already shown heart disease reversal in dogs, with years of safety data, and a path toward humans. For most of history, this kind of science was locked behind elite institutions and big checks. Now a founder of Church’s stature and his partners are deliberately opening the round to the broader community, and it’s working (oversubscribed, ranked #1 by Kingscrowd).
Rejuvenate Bio spun out of my lab at Harvard, and I co-founded it. One injection reverses cardiac disease in dogs, with three years of safety data and zero safety issues. They’ve raised $3.2M+ and 1,250+ investors are in, and Kingscrowd ranks the round #1 in the country. It closes soon: wefunder.com/rejuvenatebio

So far so good! Crazy to think this is experiment in patients now. One small milestone down, @davidasinclair @lifebiosciences more to come!
Today we announced interim data from our first-in-human, Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating our lead program in optic neuropathies, showing it was well-tolerated by 3 participants with glaucoma. Read more about our safety & visual field observations here:bit.ly/4ASWq0p

When the NIH director proudly talks about funding aging research you know something has changed
What can GLP-1 drugs teach us about aging? In this video, I share new NIH-funded research showing that semaglutide, a GLP-1 medication, extended lifespan and improved several measures of health in older mice. While more research is needed to understand what these findings could mean for people, the study offers intriguing insights into the biology of aging. Learn more: bit.ly/463JGWt

There is a fake longevity news site full of made-up stories designed to look like it's an academic journal. At least some people in the field are falling for it. A medical doctor posted on LinkedIn that @NirBarzilaiMD had written an article about the positive interim analysis of TAME, which sounded wrong to me since AFAIK TAME isn't funded yet. So I explored the site. There's a bunch of fabricated stores including one on the @DogAgingProject TRIAD clinical trial. Many of the biggest names in the field are listed as co-authors on fabricated "articles". Be careful who you trust. The signal-to-noise problem in longevity is only getting worse. longevity.chia.health/news

We need to stop treating aging and decline as a sacred law of nature and instead see them as an engineering problem. Believe me when I say there are MANY people working on it for everyone's benefit.

The median age of an NIH scientist is 71. Nobel-winning work happens in your 20s. 45% of a researcher's time goes to paperwork... While the NIH budget just hit $45 billion with nothing to show for it. I sat down with @mkratsios47 to talk about the White House plan to blow this up: autonomous labs running science 24/7 with no humans, 70 years of federal data being uploaded to AI, and a target that just moved from 2x to 10x scientific productivity. -- The US banned all non-American humanoid robot imports to force a domestic supply chain. -- Supersonic flight: speed limit replaced with noise limit. Decades-old ban lifted. -- American AI Exports Program launched: turnkey US-made AI stacks for the world, government-financed. The counter to China's Belt and Road for intelligence. -- Kratsios on the 10x target: "Even six months ago, Opus wasn't out yet. Anthropic's revenue was sub-$10 billion. The pace of AI innovation is just insane. We've got to aim big."

🧠New NIH-funded research has uncovered an aspect of human brain aging that reshapes our approach to age-related cognitive decline and dementia risk. This knowledge will be critical as we work toward developing earlier detection methods and more effective treatments. Read the full NIH news release ➡️ nih.gov/news-events/news-rel…

Almost everything that would add ten good years to your life already exists. And believe me it's not locked in a secret lab. Want to know what it is? Healthy HABITS! The things people think are easy to do, but the hardest to implement day-to-day.

Some preliminary evidence suggested that pre-exercise palm cooling may enhance resistance training performance. Our just-pubbed study showed no beneficial effects of the strategy on various assessments of performance, physiological measures or perceptual responses compared to sham in trained lifters. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…

We spend too much time trapped in our thoughts. The One-Armed Bandit brings you back into your body. It brings you into the present moment. Mind and body working together as one. When you find that balance, the mental noise completely shuts off. Just pure body awareness. Once you feel it for yourself, you get it. What you do in private always shows in public, and this is such good news. Your diet shows in your energy. Your diet shows in your skin. Your diet shows in your confidence. Your diet shows in your results. The whole foods you eat when no one’s watching…the vegetables, the healthy fats, the clean proteins, they don’t just disappear. They become the clarity you feel at 2pm instead of brain fog. They become the natural glow people notice. They become steady energy that lasts all day, not the crash-and-burn cycle of processed foods and sugar. You can’t fake real nourishment. Your body tells the truth. Feed it real food, and it shows. Skip the nutrients it needs, and that shows too. You are what you cultivate when no one is watching. And every single meal is either building you up or breaking you down. Choose foods that serve you.

You don't magically become healthy. You practice it. You notice you're making a bad choice and correct it, over and over again until the good one becomes automatic. The people who figured this out aren't special. They just decided to take it seriously one day and never stopped.

Most electrolyte products are missing something fundamental. You can take all the potassium you want — but without enough magnesium, it won't stay where it needs to be. Magnesium activates ATP, and ATP powers the pump that actually moves minerals into your cells. Skip magnesium, and the whole system stalls. This is basic physiology that most products ignore. If you've ever wondered why you're still exhausted, still cramping, still thirsty no matter what you take — this video is going to change how you think about hydration completely.
