One of my favourite lessons of our S1 🇫🇷 Food and Drink topic involves listening to ‘Je suis une pizza’ by Charlotte Diamond 🍕 1FB and 1TB then designed their own pizzas for homework… and the result is a new display to brighten up a tired corner of the room!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas @LibertonHS and today’s staff baking session brightened up my day. Thank you to Home Ec colleagues for organising 🎄
This week, N5 🇪🇸 pupils received their 'Quizlet Calendar'. I'm hoping it will help them (a) see that little bursts of revision done often = lots of revision over a period of time, and (b) get into good study habits sooner rather than later. Gracias @OllieMFL for the idea!
Fully expected at least one pupil to ask me ‘Are we doing something fun today?’ (as tomorrow is our last day before half term) but to my surprise it didn’t happen. I’m taking that as a win.
Tried something new with N5 🇪🇸 this week: a Padlet with unpredictable bullet points from every 2025 N5 Writing. I gave them some useful words and phrases to get them started, and they picked a few to respond to (some chose to pair up for this).
S2 🇫🇷 have made ‘verb flowers’ to help them remember the steps to conjugating -ER verbs in the present tense.
A few fabulous timetables (in French, bien sûr) from pupils in 2TB @LibertonHS earlier this month. I was so impressed by the focus and effort that went into this task 🌟
S3 🇪🇸 have been working hard on adjective agreement over the past couple of weeks. Today, they put this into practice by writing a ‘thank you’ postcard to a teacher of their choice (template created using @canva). ¡Buen trabajo!
Three weeks into the autumn term and my goal of walking to and from school is going well ✅ Hitting 10,000 steps/day is a doddle (as it’s 4km each way) and the walk has been just what I need to clear my head at each end of the day. Bonus: I saw a rabbit this week 🥰
It’s been so nice to see pupils in my S3 🇪🇸 classes notice their work on the wall this week. Looking forward to seeing who else’s work will make it onto the Wall of Fame as the year progresses ✨
Super happy with my #OUresults, having passed the L226 Spanish Studies 2 module with 88% (Distinction) 🤩 I’m now two-thirds of the way towards full registration in Spanish… just need to figure out the residency component!
I spent a ridiculous amount of time deliberating between the different cover designs from @TPositiveTC, but eventually went for the one that best reflects my happy place. Looking forward to the year ahead - but first, three more weeks of holiday (and a few more Munros) to enjoy!
Moments like this, when a pupil takes the time to tell you how much they enjoyed your lessons, make it all worthwhile 🥰
As part of their P7 Transition, each pupil in 1TB and 1FB created a dove, inspired by a scene in Le Petit Prince. Some beautiful designs from this year’s cohort 🕊️
Looking for planner recommendations 📒 I'd like the dates pre-filled (as undated planners drive me bananas) and have heard good things about @TPositiveTC. We have a 7-period day, though as things stand I don't have any "full" teaching days on my timetable for next year.

Happy half-term! To celebrate the release of the 2nd edition, I'm giving away 10 copies of the Spanish Grammar Workbook. 50+ new pages, redesigned throughout, entirely new sections. Like & retweet to be in with a chance, winners announced 02/06. 🇪🇸 amzn.eu/d/0r5mkG9
Highlight of today: 1TB's enthusiasm for 'Tête, épaules, genoux, pieds'. It was honestly the loveliest thing to see them all singing along (and some doing all the moves as well!). Bien joué 🌟
Thank you @balfourbeatty for the tour of the new @LibertonHS this afternoon. Having watched the build progress over the last eighteen months, it was great to get a real sense of what our new space will be like.
If the Scottish weather was like this more often, it wouldn’t take much to persuade me to swap my 15 minute commute by car for the 45 minute walk I enjoyed today 🌳 ☀️
While I was in France over the holidays, I took photos of all sorts of signs and posters. Here's the result (inspired by similar resources shared @OllieMFL and @MrFrancisMFL). If it would be useful to you, I'm happy to share it 🙂
