Light is the surest weapon.
The reach of its blade is endless.
See how it pierces the hidden places!
My heart trembles.
In the face of its awesome glory,
Every shadow is uprooted,
Even the one called Death.

ANNOUNCING OPERATION OCTYPER 2026
Choose your mission. Crush your goal.
Do you have a new story you are just dying to write? A WIP you really want to finish? Do you like the challenge of setting an ambitious goal to complete in one month? Then Operation: Octyper is for you!
I’m writing in a coffee shop, and I just realized the fact that I’ve been sitting here, trying out all the different ways my character could wipe something off his cheek might be making me look a little odd. 😅
Me: Ok, time to add some more setting description so this chapter doesn’t have White Room Syndrome.
Me, five seconds later: Oh, wait. This chapter is literally set in a white room.
The first line of Beyond the Wind Music, my portal fantasy novel. This line seems simple enough, but is more important than you might realize. By the end of the book, the significance is clear. In fact, it’s closely connected to the very last line!
Trying something new on the blackboard in my room…
Poetry magnets!
It’s totally just for fun—a tiny way to express myself creatively without feeling like the words need to be perfect.
(The only downside is that now I’m tempted to spend money for more magnets like these.😆)
Um…without the inciting incident, my protagonist might actually be dead. 😅
If the inciting incident never occurred in your WIP, what kind of parallel world, boring life would your protagonist be living?

It randomly occurred to me that when I say the acronym “WIP” in my head, I pronounce it the same as VIP, just with a W.
For some reason I can post things, but can’t reply to comments or leave any comments on other people’s posts.🫤

Spent the whole morning finishing this…kind of have a book hangover now. If you need me, I’ll be out in the garden, pulling all the weeds and feeling all the emotions.
Just had the temptation to turn one of my only standalone ideas into a series…
And you’d better believe I IMMEDIATELY nipped that in the bud. 😆
A lot of writers talk about the crazy research-related things in their search history.
Meanwhile, my search history:
1. Looking up synonyms for the millionth time
2. Looking up the definition of a basic word to make sure it actually means what I’ve thought it means for 32 years
“Where’s Jordy?” His smile twitches. “He didn’t go outside, did he?”
I turn toward the door, fingers curling into fists. If he did, that’s…bad. Really bad.
“He went to the guest room,” Frey murmurs.
My hands unclench.

I cheat too much with these things.😆
This or that, writer edition! Which will you choose?

“Sit down,” Wilcott says before I’ve risen even an inch off my chair. “You’ll have better luck with him after he cools off, at any rate.”
I settle back into the seat. He’s probably right, but…I shouldn’t have hesitated when Jordy left. Shouldn’t have felt relieved.

A quote from my novel, Beyond the Wind Music!
This is definitely a part where I relate to Marie. I love those calm, clear nights when the moon is so bright, I just have to stop and drink it in for a little while. 🥰
How about you?
