there it was again. contact, made willingly. gently. as if he were something other than a monster, a being not meant to be touched. confidence faltered, staring at the list in silence.

he repeated, a brow raising. it just didn’t make sense, why sage would be the one to help him. she betrayed him once. and despite how smart she is, he isn’t convinced that it was part of her ‘ big plan ’.

gloved hand taking the balloon, staring at it .. almost longingly. the first time the homelander has been celebrated since he regained his glory.

john had been waiting patiently, almost anxiously, throughout the ten minutes of sage’s absence. the leathery material of his suit squeaked with each leg bounce, internally counting down each minute.
in his excitement, john had forgotten ——
—— conditions of regaining his power. truth be told, it didn’t matter. he’d never obey sage, or anyone. once the V was surging through his veins again, he could rip her apart with ease.

weird .. this is the longest he’s ever been in a car.
once sage had grabbed his wrist, there was a brief moment where john’s newfound confidence wavered, nearly tripping over his own boots as he followed behind.

after his fall from a life of luxury ——
eyes following sage as she approached, unmoving as the gap between them disappeared nearly completely.
he felt it again, after so long. hope. hope that the homelander would return, hope that he would be given another chance to fulfill ——

voice nearing a growl in anticipation, a gloved hand raising, fingertips stopping right before making contact with the woman’s face.
