Before y’all call these upcoming Mexican American artists “no sabo kids,” remember some of our gente had to linguistically assimilate to survive. These MA youth may not be dominate in Spanish but they’re reclaiming language by creating & singing Mexican Regional music.

It is workshops like these that engage students. By connecting with cultural interests, and permitting the flow of creativity, you’ll find a more powerful lesson than the average curriculum.

This year Mente had the privilege of awarding a scholarship to 20 individual students. This is thanks in part to our sponsors and all those who volunteer to make this happen. Next year the Mente team is hoping to award more! #mentestory
