What are the specific ways that Israel is an ally of the United States? I understand that the U.S. is an ally of Israel: we fight many of their wars with them and now even without them, in the case of Iran.
And I understand that Israel provides the U.S. with intelligence, but according to our own intelligence community, that intel is often flawed and is shared to advance Israel's geopolitical interests. It's not them helping us.
Is Israel helping us in Ukraine? Helping us counter China or any of our other goals? In fact, they routinely share sensitive tech with China and Russia despite our pleas not to. Genuine question, how are they an ally?
He says Israel is NOT our ally. NOT our ally. Look, hate Netanyahu all you want, oppose the current Israeli government all you want, but if you don’t believe Israel is our ally, you don’t belong in the U.S. Senate. No Jew in Michigan who supports the state of Israel should vote for him. He just plain hates Israel. Fuck him.

So what exactly ARE El-Sayed's so-called ties to terrorism.
His half-sister (raised by his mother) said his mother was a member of it in the 70s.
A few things about that.
1. The Muslim Brotherhood had already denounced terrorism.
2. El-Sayed wasn't even born.
3. El-Sayed was raised by his father and step-mother since he was 3.
4. The Muslim Brotherhood wasn't even declared a terrorist organization by the US until the Trump Administration did so in January of this year.
5. The specific allegations that led to the designation only happened in the last two years.
6. The allegations haven't been proven, and the Egyptian chapter has denied them.
So 50 years before these things happened, and 10 years before he was born, his mom belonged to them.
If this sounds like Obama's Brother Part 2, it's because it is.
This isn't about truth. It's about smuggling in racist assumptions.

In December 2023, I wrote that Israel’s definition of Hamas “affiliation” was so broad that you could be considered affiliated simply for buying a shawarma from a restaurant owned by a Hamas member.
I was criticized for making a claim I couldn’t substantiate. I had no report to cite. My analysis was grounded in years of observing and studying Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, and in my own family’s experience of that oppression.
Nearly three years later, accounts of the documentary Naza describe an Israeli intelligence official explaining how an AI targeting system could identify a baker as a Hamas operative simply because Hamas members bought bread from his bakery, potentially leading to an attack on his home and family.
The resemblance is staggering. I was immediately reminded of my post. I even wondered if I’d succumbed to the criticism and deleted it. I’m glad I didn’t.
What’s frustrating is how often observations about despicable Israeli practices are dismissed until they’re corroborated by Israeli insiders or investigative journalists. There’s an important difference between an analysis that hasn’t yet been substantiated and one that has no reasonable basis.
I wasn’t making a random guess in 2023. I was identifying a pattern. And the evidence that has emerged since then has given that analysis substantial support.

I agree with @davidsirota. After the midterms, the Dem party needs to go all in with their progressive left. As a NeverTrumper (temporary) Democrat, that’s not where I am, but I don’t matter. That’s where the energy is in the Dem party, that’s where the reform is, that’s where Dem righteous anger is. The corporate Dem establishment sucks. Give the progressives their shot. And don’t tell me progressives can’t win nationally. That’s what people said about Trump & MAGA. They were wrong. Dems should follow their energy. And it’s on the left. Fuck the Dem establishment. They’ve failed. As a former Tea Party guy, I can say that we (the Tea Party) succeeded because the Republican establishment failed.

Just checking in on this, @GregAbbott_TX

Greg Abbott received millions after a his injury through a civil justice system that allowed him to hold the responsible parties accountable. Then he spent decades supporting laws that make it harder for injured Texans to sue corporations and insurers and recover large damages. Even the lawyer who won Abbott’s settlement says he couldn’t get Abbott the same result under today’s laws. He got his payout and then screwed everyone coming behind him.
Abbott has NEVER worked for Texans. He only works for billionaires.
Replying to @spring_surf @GinaHinojosaTX
Her opponent is paralyzed from the waste down and doesn't complain. Governor Abbott just gets things done.

DO NOT VOTE BY MAIL THIS CYCLE.
This has all the makings of a disaster. It's like building healthcare dot gov, only in a more compressed timeframe and with the architects kinda hoping for failure. Oh, and the damage is utter distrust and chaos in our elections.

I think a good way to articulate the insanity of this Hasan Piker discourse is to analogize it to Russian Americans.
In the immediate aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, there were some scattered incidents of anti-Russian hate crimes in the US, but this dissipated quickly -- the public got the message that the Russian American community was not championing Putin's unjust war.
It seems obvious that these dynamics would have looked different had every mainline Russian American institution and leader adamantly embraced Putin, insisted that this war was just and necessary, accused anyone who raised concerns about Putin's targeting of Ukrainian civilians as anti-Russian bigots, sought to blacklist all of those people, and spent hundreds of millions of dollars in our elections to try to force our government to supply Putin with weapons to carry out his war.
If in this alternative universe a Ukrainian American whose family and friends had been killed by the Russian military eventually lost it and attacked, say, a Russian Orthodox Church that proudly flew the Russian flag and raised funds for the Russian army and organized trips to support Russian colonists in occupied western Ukraine, we wouldn't say that was okay -- it would be a horrific hate crime itself -- but I think we could all understand and name the causal connection between that conduct by Russian American leaders and this tragic result.
And if some Twitch streamer did name that connection, and then every single establishment Democrat put out a statement blasting the streamer as having called for anti-Russian violence or something, rather than simply articulating a warning of an obvious and real threat, we'd all recognize that as a pretty psychotic response.

In order to attack Mamdani, pro-Israel types are defending a Hindu nationalist org whose longest-serving head referred to Germany's "purging the country of the Jews" as "race pride at its highest" & called it a "good lesson" for Indian Hindus.
Mayor Mamdani found time to oppose a Hindu gathering at Madison Square Garden.
Not traffic. Not crime. A Hindu event.
He is Muslim. Fine. He does not get to decide which faiths are allowed in the room.
Jews already know the pattern. Hindus just got the memo.
Christians should stop pretending they are exempt.
Quote this and tag someone who still calls him “inclusive.”

The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel. To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect. Everything I know about acting, activism, and humanism has been profoundly shaped by the Jewish friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been integral and family throughout every point of my life.
This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.

Here's a 30-minute compilation of Hasan calling out anti-semitism and how criticism of Israel shouldn’t be conflated with Jewish people.
Next time someone accuses him of being antisemitic based on 20 sec clips, you can just show this instead of trying to argue further.

Ezra Klein.
Funny - sounds exactly like what @hasanthehun said.
Literally the exact same thing.
Actually it's not funny at all.

Hasan Piker is whatever, but it's really something to see the politicians who gave Netanyahu a standing ovation after helping him commit genocide saying people can't campaign with Piker or be interviewed by him.

falsely tying israel to jewish people IS increasing antisemitism. this isn’t a call for violence- what your favorite nazi agitator jake lang does daily is putting jews and muslim michiganders in actual danger.
More calls for violence coming out of the El-Sayed campaign…
Here is his running mate, Hasan Piker, saying that if AMERICAN JEWS support Israel, they will be violently targeted because of it.
This is all in reaction to Michigan Democratic Congressional candidate Jeremy Moss, who happens to be Jewish, saying he is unsure if he will be able to support Abdul for these very reasons.
Absolutely DISGUSTING. If Abdul El-Sayed had any courage at all, he would call this out and disavow Hasan Piker once and for all. We’re waiting, Abdul…
