As ECL continues our celebration of Black History Month, we take a moment to appreciate and spotlight local organizations like the Marian Cheek Jackson Center that work to preserve Black History and provide access to stories that might otherwise go unheard.

Beautiful day to celebrate community in Northside! ☀️ Painted a flower pot 🌺, connected with a few @orangehabitat homeowners, and checked on the progress of our Gattis Court homes under construction. 🏠 Thanks @MCJCenter for all you do!

On the final day of #BlackHistoryMonth, we would like to uplift some of the many Triangle-based nonprofits that are led by and/or focused on serving the Black community. Check them out & consider supporting these nonprofits making huge impacts right here in the Triangle. #BHM2023

Thank you for joining us today @KevinGuskiewicz and team! It was a pleasure showing you the community lead work in Northside!
Started my day with a tour of the Northside community with @MCJCenter and @EmPOWERmentINC1, learning more about their work with historically Black neighborhoods in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Carolina is committed to being a good neighbor and we're grateful for their efforts!

Ayah is one of our Northside Residential Fellows, Jack is participating in the Linking Generations in Northside program, and they are both in the Jackson Center Student Leadership Group this year (that @mollsdemarco is the faculty advisor for)!
Welcome back, Tar Heels! The Good Neighbor Initiative began today with volunteers promoting community spirit in neighborhoods where #UNC students and non-students live close together. I was glad to join volunteers Jack, Ayah, and Molly in #Carrboro’s Lloyd-Broad neighborhood.
