Early Childhood Ed. student Sophia Perez; Joins Teach for America 2022; “I have always known I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. The opportunities at Duquesne with my professors and in the field opened my eyes to the realities of public education. My professors created an environment that helped me truly understand the hardships students face from an educator’s perspective because of the inequity and lack of resources. It was this new perspective amongst many other things that drove me to apply to Teach for America. With my Education degree from Duquesne, and my experience working with Teach for America, I hope to be able to contribute in making equitable education a tangible reality.”
