In a world demanding we choose a side, Dolly loved all sides even harder. In a world rewarding the hoarding of wealth, Dolly gave freely and openly. Dolly kept her heart open, even when she became so rich and powerful that she could have chosen otherwise.

That’s weird. I could have sworn I ATTENDED a World Cup SEMIFINAL in MONTREAL in 2015.
Now what could be going on here...
TORONTO (AP) — Co-host Canada scores late to earn 1-1 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina in the first World Cup match ever played in Canada.

I was just laid off by The Washington Post in the middle of a warzone. I have no words. I'm devastated.
Solidarity with Washington Post journalists today. Stunning, undeserved cuts to an institution that has done such tremendous work both in the U.S. and abroad. They did not deserve this. And neither did their readers.
"The three most important days in American history since the Civil War have been: Dec 7, 1941. Sept. 11. And Jan. 6. We don’t use years for the last two. They aren’t dates on a calendar; they are scar tissue," writes @RepSwalwell:

This is a complicated case, with a LOT of files, so I know it's easy to confuse what's what. What Stephen doesn't understand is that the emails released Wednesday are from Epstein's estate. They were obtained from Epstein's lawyers pursuant to a subpoena that was issued by the House Oversight Committee (lawmakers). These documents are separate from the criminal case files held by the DOJ and the FBI that Trump and Bondi promised to release after the election. (more)
Watched the #Oscars last night and looking for more excellent analysis on the winners? MSNBC has you covered.
Loved Katelyn Burns' strong analysis on why almost nobody seems to like Emilia Pérez... except the academy:

Then there's this essay from @AntheaButler pushing back on the narrative that #Conclave was a progressive drama:

... and last but definitely not least, @berlinerblau called it with his celebration of #Anora, and the subtle political messaging undergirding the night's biggest winner:

Such a well deserved honor! Congrats to you both.
It's an absolute honor to be recognized. Many thanks to @jarvisdeberry who edited this column.
What I appreciate the most is that women's basketball stories are being highlighted and given the proper spotlight.
It's that special time, that comes around every 4 years, when I am forced to DISABLE ALL PUSH ALERTS. #OlympicGames

As a working class person in journalism, it troubles me how tough it still is for working class people to break into the trade. So I'm freeing up some time in my calendar for chats with aspirant working class journalists.
This is really, really concerning.
Our reporting on Eric Schmidt’s stealth drone project was posted this AM by @perplexity_ai . It rips off most of our reporting. It cites us, and a few that reblogged us, as sources in the most easily ignored way possible. Note the views. #zeroclick forbes.com/sites/sarahemerso…

I wrote about the cruel consequences of America's aging prison population. Why are we forcing older people to spend their dying years in prison when they can get better care elsewhere? vox.com/the-highlight/241199…
"Let’s please stop saying that Caitlin Clark is 'taking a pay cut' to join the WNBA. She’s looking at the long game, and you should be, too."
@kavithadavidson breaks down the nuance behind the (well-intentioned) outrage.
