New paper 🧬 We piloted saliva collection for genetics in the NARCOMS MS registry: ~62% of interested participants consented; only ~10% of invited actually took part. Hypothetical willingness to share genetic data ≠ actual behavior. 🔗journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.… @MSJ_Research
New paper in @MSJ_Research from @KaarinaKowalec lab:🧬1 in 20 people with MS on dimethyl fumarate develop severe lymphopenia. We found a polygenic score for lymphocyte counts predicts risk (57% risk reduction per SD increase). Genetics may help flag who needs closer monitoring.
