Premier Smith plans to redraw electoral district boundaries so that the UCP will form government anyway.
Proportional representation makes gerrymandering very hard.

I would have been far more interested in the Alberta Referendum if one of the questions was about ending the First-Past-the-Post electoral system.
As it was there were really only two questions on the ballot. One, do you want to separate from Canada? Answer? No. Two, do you want to screw over immigrants? Answer? Yes.

Alberta, indeed Canada, needs to cast a vote that counts.
That way Albertans will always be at the table in Ottawa.
There is just one problem.
Both the Liberals and Consetvatives oppose a fairvote. So does Smith. They are doing a good job of carving up the country east-west.
Before the votes are tallied, I wanted to be clear about something that they're going to try and take from us.
The definition of victory.
If as much as 25% elect for option 2 on the only question that matters... this is not a win for "remain."
It's a victory for independence.
1/4 of the province (of which had doubled in size since this bs immigration scheme) is on board with cutting ties.
That's not 2 crazy dudes in Didsbury. That's every 4th person.
Maybe we won't get to further the process... but we will get to make our point clear: a huge chunk of us are so dissatisfied with the present status quo that we want to walk away from it all.
From this day forth, politicians will see that number on the page and know that it they don't find a way to bring those people into the discussion, they've lost them.
Don't let them redefine victory and marginalize our struggles.
But of course, I want option 2 to pass.
To make Alberta stronger within a united Canada, Albertans and all Canadians, must cast a vote that counts.
Albertans will always be at the table in Ottawa with proportional representation.
Conservatives will be elected throughout the east and Liberals throughout the west.
A united country needs political parties that are national parties, not east-west divides.
Excellent video from Conservative leader @PierrePoilievre there is lots of work to do to make our province and our country stronger. Let’s get out and do that work, but first let’s vote for a stronger Alberta within a United Canada.
Danielle Smith has a new electoral boundary plan that would give rural voters more power and the UCP power.
Proportional representation neutralizes gerrymandering.
Winner-take-all, single-member elections are subject to the fatal vulnerbility of gerrymandering.
To completely undermine the primacy of the voter, Smith plans to pick her voters via gerrymandering.
So an NDP government is unlikely with electoral boundary changes.
You knew this.
Put voters first. Give them a vote that counts no matter where they live or where the boundaries are put.
Giving each Albertan a vote that counts is best way to put the guns down and stop the infighting.
Smith, however, plans to gerrymander.
People at The Hub understand the damage done by an electoral system that fails to respect the primacy of the voter and divides us east-west.
Proportional representation in Edmonton and in Ottawa would keep separatism at bay. @howardanglin @TheHubCanada
The Alberta referendum is over - now what?
I wrote about how Edmonton and Ottawa can ensure there is never another one.

In order to unite our Nation must reduce regional political divide we see in Alberta and in Canadian 🇨🇦 elections caused by FPTP elections.
Only proportional representation can start that process.
Erin O'Toole got more votes and less seats than Justin Trudeau. He now supports a vote that counts: proportional representation.

Only proportional representation can help the feeling of Albertans not being heard in Ottawa.
Proportional representation ensures Albertans are represented based on how we vote.
FPTP created regional political division that caused the referendum. – at Calgary, Alberta
Now do a vote that counts.
A vote that counts would go a long way to uniting Canada.
FPTP elects too many Conservatives in Alberta and Saskatchewan at the expense of Eastern Canada and visa versa.
Make voters the center of our politics and you would correct a fundamental flaw in our demoxracy. @GarnettGenuis @DaneLloydMP @cpc_hq
Well over 1 million contacts with Albertans, at the doors and online. Decisive results for a strong Alberta within a united Canada.
I want to recognize the incredible leadership of my friend @DaneLloydMP, who envisioned, created, and led the Conservatives for Canada campaign.
Dane has been relentlessly positive in fighting for our province and our country. And that fight continues.
The work building a stronger Alberta and a stronger Canada will continue, tomorrow and every day afterwards.

Too bad Liberals (and Conservatives) don't support a vote that counts. Winner-take-all voting divides us east-west.
Respecting voter elections on the ballot paper would drive compromise, consensus and unity. Instead voters get political self-interest put ahead of national unity for the false majority win.
@liberal_party @cpc_hq @MarkJCarney @PierrePoilievre @coreyhoganyyc
Tonight, Albertans decisively reaffirmed our place in Canada.
It remains true today, as it was true yesterday, that we are all in this together. We are all Albertans, and we are all Canadians, and there is no single right way to be Albertan or Canadian. However we voted, this is home for all of us.
We won't always agree on policies or priorities. But we all want to build better lives for ourselves and our families. Getting there means working together.
The world is an uncertain place. We face global challenges. Tonight is a good moment to remember that, in the face of those challenges, far more unites us than divides us. It's a good night to recommit to cooperation, compromise and mutual respect.

We need to remove the separatists excuse about Albertans not being heard in Ottawa.
A proportional voting system will ensure Alberta’s voice is strongly represented in Government in Ottawa.
FPTP has short changed Alberta MPs in Government in the Nation’s capital.

1) A majority of British Columbians voted in favour of STV in 2005.
2) David Eby did little to advance electoral reform during the last parliament. At most, he established an all-party committee on electoral reform, only to reject its recommendation. Now, he’s criticizing vote-splitting under FPTP in a snap election that he himself called.
3) Personally, I’m not a fan of referendums because I don’t believe abolishing a voting system that produces disproportionate results (and therefore leads to unfair election results) should be treated as an open question. As election rules are unfair, they should simply be changed.
That said, I recognize that referendums have both benefits and drawbacks. I would have been fine with Eby at least holding another referendum on the issue when the provincial election should have been called, provided improvements were made based on the shortcomings of the last one (such as making the referendum more straightforward for voters). I also am okay with voters being consulted every few years on electoral reform (even though I am against having referendums in general), given how important our electoral rules are to the functioning of democracy.

@Dave_Eby should have gone with proportional representation and skipped the early election call.
