Preseason Seed List Profile - No. 13 Arkansas Georgia transfer Jeremiah Wilkinson and highly-touted freshman Jordan Smith Jr. join returning guard Billy Richmond in Fayetteville. John Calipari has had more talented rosters, but this is still one that can make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Season Ceiling Smith Jr., a five-star freshman, is the SEC POY and is a first or second team All-American. Arkansas makes the Final Four for the first time since 1995. Season Floor Smith doesn't live up to the hype and the Razorbacks stumble their way to a 7-9 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Preseason Seed List Profile - No. 14 Michigan The defending national champions lost plenty of talent from last April and their head coach, so there are plenty of questions in Ann Arbor. Mike Boynton takes over for Dusty May and will lean on returners Elliot Cadeau and Trey McKinney.

Season Ceiling Cadeau becomes a first team All-American and Michigan gets back to the Final Four. Season Floor The roster lacks star power and the Wolverines finish in the middle of the Big 10.

Preseason Seed List Profile - No. 15 St. John's Keyshawn Hall (Auburn) and Tounde Yessoufou (Baylor) join Ian Jackson to form a formidable trio for the Johnnies. While the frontcourt remains a concern there is enough backcourt and wing talent to think St. John's can be a postseason threat.

Season Ceiling There are few better - if any - better backcourt duos than Jackson and Yessoufou and the Red Storm get Rick Pitino back to the Final Four. Season Floor All of the new transfers and international additions don't mesh and St. John's is a first weekend exit.
65
Preseason Seed List Profile - No. 16 Texas Tech This was a tough one. The Red Raiders when fully healthy have the team to get to the Final Four. But with J.T. Toppin out for a significant portion of the season. So this seed is based on their current roster. Donovan Atwell and Hofstra transfer Cruz Davis will be the top options when Toppin comes back.

Season Ceiling Toppin comes back at the same level as he was or close and Texas Tech gets to the Final Four. Season Floor Toppin doesn't come back to the same level he was and the Red Raiders finish outside the top five in the Big 12.

Preseason Seed List Profile - No. 17 Tennessee A starting lineup full of transfers will lead Rick Barnes' 2026-2027 Tennessee squad. The talented transfer class is led by Juke Harris from Wake Forest, Dai Dai Ames from California and Terrence Hill from VCU. Is this the year Barnes breaks through to the Final Four with Tennessee?

Season Ceiling The Volunteers have three players who perform at a first team all-league level and finally Rick Barnes gets back to the Final Four. Season Floor While the roster is talented, the chemistry and cohesion just isn't there and Tennessee is a middling seed in the NCAA Tournament

Preseason Seed List Profile - No. 17 Miami The second season for head coach Jai Lucas has the makings of being a special one. The Hurricanes bring back Malik Reneau, who averaged 18 ppg a year ago. Also back is Shelton Henderson, who was a double-digit scorer. Throw in Villanova transfer Acaden Lewis and Miami has a roster than can get to the Final Four.

Season Ceiling Behind Reneau's first team all-league performance, the Hurricanes win 30 games and make the Final Four. Season Floor Reneau and company fail to meet the lofty preseason expectations and finish outside the top five in the ACC.

Preseason Seed List Profile - No. 19 Iowa State Prior to Tamin Lipsey getting an additional year, the Cyclones were in trouble. But with Lipsey getting an additional year, it dramatically changes the trajectory of the team. Joining Lipsey are Jamarion Bateman and Killyan Toure (out until January).

Season Ceiling In a loaded Big 12, Lipsey earns first team all-league and Iowa State gets to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Season Floor Bateman and Toure don't take more substantial steps forward and Lipsey is left to carry too big of a burden. ISU is one and done in the Big Dance.
