The likes of Dyson and Clarkson probably can afford to pay the new rate of APR but wouldn’t be able to on just farming income, but I’m bloody glad they are standing side by side with us family farms and helping to raise awareness of this proposed destructive tax.

The last tenancy we applied for had 130 people on the viewing day and 56 applicants. I've said to @gowerhenry who runs new entrant policy at DEFRA several times, that upskilling new entrants just means they'll be more disappointed people. They should focus on these three things👇
Defra’s ‘New Entrant’ scheme misses the point. Young people struggle with access to capital & land, as highlighted in the Rock Review: a few hours with a land agent isn’t going to cut it. Initial findings from the pilot 👇 defrafarming.blog.gov.uk/202…

I get many people tell me “I’m white, male and straight, so how can I help with diversity and inclusion?” The answer is allyship. Use you voice, spaces and contacts to amplify and include diverse voices and presence. We all need to be in it together to create positive change.

Would be great to see U.K. farming and agricultural individuals, organisations and media acknowledge, engage, celebrate and promote Black History Month as this is an excellent opportunity to really increase our education, values and culture and start to take diversity seriously.

Replying to @ranil @DefraGovUK
@ranil farmers are concerned by your track record on free trade. Please understand that we are not averse to free trade, but we are when that trade undermines our standards. We mustn't join a race to the bottom that damages the environment, welfare, health and consumer choice.

Lots in the news about low reservoirs and dry rivers which have not seen since the drought of 1976. Context is everything. This is why we should be concerned. A short 🧵
