That "richest nation" is now scrambling to buy bread. Saudi has blockaded ports and airports, intercepted fuel tankers, and obstructed food imports. It has bombed water treatment plants, hospitals, and marketplaces even weddings and funerals. It has turned Yemen into what the United Nations describes as the "world’s worst humanitarian crisis," forcing Yemenis to queue for bread and leaving their children to die of starvation and cholera. For twelve years, Saudi Arabia has told the Yemenis: "This is the price. This is the cost of your resistance." Now, in Saudi Arabia’s own supermarkets, people are scrambling for supplies not because they are poor, but because what is on the shelves today might be gone tomorrow. King Khalid International Airport has suspended operations following a missile strike. Air navigation services at Abha Airport have been halted. Ports along the Red Sea are under threat. Pumping stations for the East-West pipeline have been hit. Every node in the supply chain is coming under fire. Yemenis queue for bread because Saudi Arabia has blockaded them; Saudis queue for bread because Yemen has inverted the logic of that very blockade. 🎯 A "wealthy nation" lacking food sovereignty. Now, the war has arrived in the airports of Riyadh, on the runways of Abha, aboard oil tankers in Yanbu, and right in front of the supermarket shelves in Riyadh. Yemen’s missiles are not intended to "conquer" Saudi Arabia. Rather, they serve to make the Saudis understand a simple truth: you cannot spend twelve years bombing another nation and still expect your own supermarket shelves to remain perpetually stocked. You cannot blockade a country’s ports and expect your own supply chains to remain unaffected. You cannot kill the children of others and expect your own children to never know the taste of fear.
