I have lived 90 days in Malta 🇲🇹 and these are the 20 things I learned about this previous British island 👇🏼 1.Everybody speaks English, as it is an official language, but if you can start with the expression “mela,” you will already be considered Maltese. 2. In 90 days, I only met 3 Maltese people. Few, as there are only 500K people, but very kind people. 3. A lot of middle-upper-class Colombians are living here to get their papers and migrate to other European countries. Some of them just learn English and go back to Colombia. 4.The majority of services are efficient and covered by Middle Eastern and Latin American professionals. 5.Hospitality is on another level thanks to professional nationalities. 6.The best food I have ever tried, with an Italian flavor. 7.The Maltese language is 70% Arabic, meaning they also see the world pretty similarly to Arabic countries, even if they are European. 8.There is a lack of green projects. I already reached out to a gentleman to help support the island, but this needs more support from foreigners than from their own citizens. 9.Nutritionists and doctors practice the Mediterranean diet and a holistic approach to maintaining a balance with Western medicine. 10. You listen to 10 languages on a walk. 11. To go to Italy, you only need two hours by ferry. 12. It is easy to create a community and build long-term friendships if you are a foreigner, as everyone is a foreigner. 13.Young population. 14. Maltese people have a preference for not caring about anything. It is their “zen” mode, as their island has completely changed from what it used to be. 15. It is expensive as an island, but cheaper compared to countries in Latin America such as Panama, Colombia, and Brazil. 16. The summer is unbearably hot, making it impossible to enjoy the summer. The best season to enjoy the island is September–October. 17. Easy access to online purchases. 18. Easy access to buying a Porsche, BMW, or any other brand, and the government surprisingly supports these purchases by giving money back after you make your purchase. 19. Boats and yachts everywhere, easy access to get a license. 20.Malta has a foreign income inclusion and still provides you with access to all of Europe. So technically, your residence is here, but you can spend time across Europe.
