I've seen a lot of loved ones suffer from what is now being called spiritual abuse. The bible offers ample levers for manipulating and harming others. It's to the point for me where even lame jokes in sermons set me on edge

I don't post that much about LaFond anymore, but I do keep in touch with him and still do some writing related tasks. Sometimes people compare him to Shagbark and really wish I could slap their faces

LaFond went to public schools and did not complete high school. Later, he was barred from homeschooling his own sons by state regs and broke his back working as a grocer to send them to decent public schools (Baltimore)

LaFond is a gifted writer, he does not string together folksy cliches for thousands of words at a time. He has actually predicted the future many times, unlike Hickbark, who seems to be surprised daily by the sunrise

I'm an educational anarchist but when a mom says everyone she knows who homeschooled is illiterate and fur-curious, she is telling you something about her own SES and genetic heritage. Her kids would be better off anywhere else
