My student @griffster_248 has a cutting edge superhero comic called IMPERATIVE ACTION that just had its first issue successfully funded through Kickstarter!
There's still time to late pledge, so show him some support and get a super fun indie comic in the process!

Can we give #49ers punter Corliss Waitman some love?
All five of his punts yesterday landed inside the 20, the return unit allowed zero return yards, and his one punt before the half that was downed at the four-yard-line set up the Gracen Halton fumble recovery TD.

George Perez's policy was never to charge for autographs or photos. Convention pays for his appearance, so it was his job to sign all day. He also does these quick $20 headshots, because he wanted to keep it affordable for fans... and that money probably went to charity anyway

I applaud comics creators who don't charge for their signature at conventions where fans are routinely paying $50 and more for "celebrity" signatures. Maybe those creators have steady well-paying work. Maybe they receive large royalty checks on a regular basis. If they are artists, they may be making hundreds of dollars per piece for original art or drawings. But not every creator has that option.
Some creators rarely get a lot of work, much less well-paying work. Some creators may feel they deserve a few bucks for their signatures and need that money to pay convention expenses. Or need the money to pay bills. Or are simply trying to create a cushion between the lean periods and their constant bills.
If you're not charging for your signatures, that's definitely a nice thing to do for your fans. I really do applaud your generosity.
I just wish (some of) you didn't act so damn superior about it.
