Er bod ein gwaith wedi canolbwyntio ar brofi ein feirws clyfar ar gelloedd ac organoidau wedi eu tyfu o fiopsïau cleifion canser y pancreas, rydym yn obeithiol y bydd y dechnoleg yma yn berthnasol i nifer o fathau eraill o ganser
This approach shows promise to achieve chemotherapeutic delivery locally within tumour cells, and has the potential to limit the systemic toxic side effects we normally associate with current chemotherapy regimens, ultimately leading to smarter and kinder treatments for #pdac
Whilst our work has focused on the application of our precision virotherapy in #pdac, we believe this could be applicable to numerous other αvβ6 integrin+ cancer types too, and provide a promising candidate for clinical applications, offering hope for improved patient outcomes.
Beyond grateful to be a member of such a wonderful team of scientists @virustinkerer and a special thanks to all those that contributed. Not forgetting our funders for supporting this work
Using in vitro cell lines and clinically-relevant 3D organoid models, we show selective transduction of our precision virotherapy, as well as a potent therapeutic effect when given in combination with 5-FC.
We describe the generation of a precision virotherapy that can selectively infect and deliver "suicide genes" to Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma via αvβ6 integrin, a tumour-selective marker.
