The game is being temporarily suspended. The teams are going to move to a field with lights and will finish the game tonight. Being told they are headed to Chicago Englewood's field. We will see. Quincy leads 88-84 with 3:42 remaining in regulation.

I didn’t like the IHSA football playoff expansion, but as it played out this weekend I really like it.
“There’s gonna be so many blowouts!”
In 2025 there were 33 first round games decided by 40+ pts.
There were 37 this year in the opening round.

The top three things in and around high school sports this weekend in Illinois:
1. Mike Clark’s tweet: “It’s quite a thing to see so many adults losing their minds over kids getting to play one more football game.”
2. Mike O’Brien’s tweet: “Well, here is Joliet Central senior Tristan Sellers after losing the playoff game 56-0 to Lane tonight:
"This was amazing. Being able to have this playoff experience for the school was special. I am just proud to be able to be part of this process and show the kids coming up behind us what is possible and showing them a goal to push past. There was a lot of life and excitement around at the school . And now there will be more people excited about football. I’m excited about what is to come here."
3. Prairie Ridge, which lost its first seven games of the season and won its last two games by a combined 5 points to earn a postseason berth, won on Saturday.
That means there will be another week for kids, families, a school and community to play football this fall.
This isn’t 1960, 1990 or 2015.
Times change, things change and good always comes from change in sports - one way or another.
Never forget: It was a mere 2,200 days ago when kids throughout Illinois weren’t on the fields.

The playoff system guaranteed that a couple thousand kids experienced a "playoff" game vs a new opponent in a win or go home scenario. I didn't hear any kids on those teams backing out like NCAA bowl games. So if the kids loved it and got another game, then I'm all for it.
