The world biggest, best (and hilliest - I swear more get added each time) half marathon, the @Great_Run 🤩 Happy with 1:40:19, a half marathon PB and over five mins off my previous best GNR time. 💪 During some of the most difficult times this year, running has been a welcome distraction - sadly 20 elusive seconds off sub 1:40 - but there’s always next year 🤦🏻‍♂️ If anyone wants to donate to a charity I hear @andyburnham was running, many other worthy charities available: justgiving.com/page/andy-bur…

I have some news. It would always have taken something truly extraordinary for me to leave Headland. Opportunities like this don’t come around often. With a Labour Government in office, the chance to serve the Prime Minister and the Government Chief Whip in what has always been my dream job, while helping to deliver change for the country, is a genuine dream come true.
EXCL: Keir Starmer’s former political director in opposition Luke Sullivan has made it to No. 10. He will be a SpAd to Andy Burnham in the new Downing Street political team — *and* chief of staff to Chief Whip Anneliese Midgley, an unusual joint role. More in today's Playbook

Come on @wandbc. This car has been abandoned outside the bus stop at @geshNHS on Blackshaw Road for two weeks. @seanlawless_ has repeatedly reported it, yet all that’s happened is a sticker has been put on it. That’s not good enough. It’s dangerous, obstructing traffic and causing unnecessary disruption. Please get it removed🙏

“This is a political economy built around place first, not Whitehall first.” Instant reaction on @bbc5live to @andyburnhamHQ speech with @TVNaga01 and @jryancollins. His central argument: Britain’s over-centralised model is holding back growth, and a more place-led economy could be the key to unlocking it. 🎙️ Listen back below.

“The UK is an extraordinarily centralised country . . . where we’ve given mayors real powers, they’ve made a positive difference to their area” Discussing the papers on @TimesRadio with @CalumAM @writtenbysalma and @GillianKeegan The success of metro mayors has shown what happens when government trusts local leaders. @andyburnham plans to be even bolder on devolution.

“The number of people who actually know is minuscule.” Westminster loves a reshuffle rumour. After 15 years involved in Labour reshuffles, one thing never changed: however confident the speculation, the reality is that very few people know the final decisions, they’re definitely not letting anything slip and even they know the list can change at the last moment. Enjoyed sharing some behind-the-scenes reflections with @MattChorley on @bbc5live with @LuciaBHodgson and @Sean_Kemp

🗣️ “And Andy Burnham cannot meet every member of the British public. What he has got is that magic of being able to do it and connect through the medium of the day, which is short form video on social media platforms”. On a massive week in British politics I joined @MattChorley for spin class with @LuciaBHodgson and @Sean_Kemp. How do you know when the power's gone? Why does Farage say it's none of your business? Is Andy Burnham smashing the socials? 🎧 lnkd.in/eJTPU6hS

“It really is the last chance saloon for Labour to show that it can govern and improve people’s lives.” My take for @abcnews on Sir Keir Starmer’s resignation, why Labour MPs forced the change, and what Andy Burnham now inherits. A fresh face offers a reset. But the structural challenges facing Britain haven’t changed. The stakes could hardly be higher.

“Labour MPs have rolled the dice. They are gambling that Andy Burnham can transform the party’s electoral prospects.” Joined BBC Scotland to discuss the implications of the transition, what it means for Labour’s electoral prospects, and the challenges facing the UK’s next PM
