Not all apoB-containing particles tell the same story.
🔹 Non–Lp(a) apoB → greater coronary plaque burden
🔹 Greater relative Lp(a) contribution → more vulnerable plaque features
New in #EJPC: Balance between apoB and Lp(a) may add another layer to cardiovascular risk assessment and personalized prevention. ow.ly/uL2650ZWCIC

Does coronary ectasia affect outcomes in acute coronary syndromes?
Coronary ectasia is tough to manage. Our recent meta-analysis @CRMjournal led by @3absatar74 shows that the highest risk associated with coronary ectasia is recurrent MI, likely due to slow flow and thrombus burden (risk ratio 1.96), and a higher risk of stroke (RR 2.4).
With current medical therapy, there was no difference in mortality.
It is unclear if using anticoagulation would help, but given our study results, with the main risk focused on stroke and recurrent MI, I believe there would be a strong role for anticoagulation in these patients.

It was a matter of when, not if this Nobel would happen. Awesome to see it.
It is worth noting that @KarlDeisseroth lab shared optogenetic tools far and wide from the very beginning, and thereby facilitated so much discovery. Fun fact: Karl was the first guest ever on the HLP.

Among infants with a family history of allergy, a maternal diet high in eggs and peanuts during pregnancy and lactation did not result in a lower risk of egg or peanut allergy at 1 year than a standard diet. Full PrEggNut trial results and Research Summary: nej.md/4yE7qNg

ALT This image contains an excerpt from the Research Summary "Trial of a Maternal Diet Rich in Eggs and Peanuts to Reduce Infant Allergy" published in the New England Journal of Medicine. It shows an illustration of an infant with highlighted areas indicating allergies and graphics of eggs and peanuts. The study involved 2137 pregnant participants with a mean age of 33. Below are two treatment groups, each with illustrations: "High Egg and Peanut Diet" and "Standard Egg and Peanut Diet."
