Brilliant piece by Lucy. The thing that makes the difference between a labour being traumatic and not traumatic is not so much the events themselves but the way the woman is cared for and communicated with. It shouldn't be difficult to get this right.

Yes. My partner had a catheter in, and several times she was still asked why she couldn't get up to pick our daughter in her cot at the end of the bed - it's a bit tricky when you're tethered to a bag of your own urine, you know!
