France is giving Canadians a front row seat to what it means to be part of the EU with their mandatory migration and immigration quotas.
Mark Carney is pushing this for Canada.
Why would Canadians support this?

A bit of truth on Truth and Reconciliation Day:
Most recorded residential-school deaths were from tuberculosis and other infections, not murder. That is what the records and the TRC analysis show. There is no evidence of a government program to kill children and hide the bodies in secret mass graves. Crowded dorms, poor ventilation, weak diets, and slow medical care turned the schools into disease traps. Kids often arrived with little immunity. TB was already killing people on and off the reserves.
The same diseases killed white children in orphanages, hospitals, and ordinary boarding schools. Child death rates were high across Canada until antibiotics and public health improved.
The 2007 settlement already paid about $5 billion to survivors. Later lawsuits added billions more. Those were legal payouts for a system run by earlier governments and churches.
Living taxpayers did not operate those schools. The reason the bills keep coming is not that every Canadian is personally guilty. It is that Ottawa keeps settling new claims and expanding annual Indigenous program spending—now tens of billions a year—under a political story that treats historical harm as a permanent moral debt on everyone alive today. The death record does not require that story.
It's time to stop the shakedown. Officials keep cashing political points by blaming people who weren't born when those schools existed. History is not a blank cheque. Enough.

Remember when that piece of shit betrayed all the Conservatives who voted for him, crossed over to the Liberals with the promise that he’d keep his Speaker of the House position, and still didn’t get it? Yeah, that brings me joy. xitter.cf/CdEntremontMP

All I know is my small business just died last night. Mid 50s and starting again. CRA hounding me to prepay my taxes for a life I have not lived yet. Prices continuing to climb and new taxes next month. I give up on this country. I want out but cannot afford it.

As of Statistics Canada's official tracking, the Violent Crime Severity Index grew from a baseline of 74.5 in 2015 to 97.2 by the end of 2025.
Spain took a similar approach and has implemented one of the largest migrant regularization programs in European history, allowing hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants to apply for formal residency and work permits. Driven by labor shortages and a shrinking workforce, the country is taking a uniquely welcoming approach compared to the rest of the EU.
Spain now. 👇Get it yet?

For the first time in Canadian history, the Prime Minister of Canada is naming a COO to his office.
The COO, Maia Johnson, is an American that worked on political strategy for the Democrats.
In June, the Ethics Commissioner fined her for failing to file disclosures required of Canadian public office holders
She was made “senior adviser for Canada-US relations” in Carney’s PMO.
AN UNELECTED AMERICA IS RUNNING THE PRIME MINISTERS OFFICE & ADVISING HIM ON HOW TO DEAL WITH AMERICA.
Carney was elected to handle Trump.
Handed his most sensitive US file to an American.

Please explain this @gregorrobertson: how will the government "acquire units in bulk, at a discount to market value"? The market price is whatever someone is willing to pay, so:
(1) if the units aren't selling on the open market, that means they are priced above the market price, and
(2) if the developers sell to the government "below market value", why don't they just sell to individuals directly at the "below market value"?
You claim that "prices and sales are already both low" -- if the prices are "low", then why aren't people buying the condos?
The only logical explanation is that you are bailing out B.C. developers and incorrectly attempting to use free-market words to sell a failing socialistic housing strategy.
If you're qualified to be the federal housing minister, I'm open to hearing the specifics and financial rationale of your plan, and how it is fair and equitable for Canadian taxpayers.

Let’s talk about our plan to convert empty units in B.C. into affordable homes.
In B.C. there are thousands of homes that are empty while thousands of British Columbians are looking for affordable homes. Build Canada Homes is going to work with the B.C. government to fix that – by turning empty units, into affordable homes.
As we build up supply, this is one of the fastest and most efficient ways to get people into homes. Through this partnership, we will acquire units in bulk, at a discount to market value, at a time when prices and sales are already both low.
We could leave these units sitting empty or we could take action that will provide much needed affordable housing to 2,200 families and individuals. More details on the conversion of units to affordable housing will be available in the coming months.
This is one of the many tools we are using to increase access to affordable housing and only one element of our landmark agreement with British Columbia to invest in local infrastructure and build affordable homes. Reports that this will cost $3.2 billion are getting the facts wrong – that is what we are investing in B.C. to build more infrastructure like water systems, wastewater systems and local roads, while bringing down development charges to make homebuilding more affordable.
We know we need more affordable homes across Canada – and that is why we launched Build Canada Homes. Since launching we have announced over 11,000 homes across 14 partnerships. Already, 4,500 units have started construction or are set to break ground in the next three months. In B.C. that partnership is delivering on 1,100 new homes, including 700 which will be supportive and transitional. Paired with our plan to reduce development charges so that we can lower down the cost of building, we are creating the conditions for more homes to be build across the country.
To end this housing crisis, we need to use every available tool: build new supply, protect rentals, support infrastructure, and bring empty homes into use faster.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The plan converts >2,200 vacant unsold condos in Metro Vancouver (about half) into government housing.
In an oversupplied market, these units would otherwise increase supply and push prices lower. Purchasing from developer with public funds keeps house prices high.
