Sometimes, the best way to fit in was to stand out. It was a good look on Amelia, even if it was a rare opportunity. She waves a hand dismissively and leans back on the bench. “Go ahead. I’m sure she’d feel left out otherwise.”
"It is... new." This wouldn't beat her simpler outfit for security gigs, but every once in a while it didn't hurt to dress extravagantly. And this was as extravagant as it got for Amelia. "Do you mind if I call Mara?" she asked as she glossed over the nickname (petname?).
Ty shrugs and leans to appreciate the back of the outfit as Amelia inspects herself in the memory. “Just seems fitting for you.”
"Puppyboy?" With the affirmation, Amelia approached the mirror to smooth out her collar and adjust her tie. Not bad. A little stiff, wouldn't be throwing punches in these sleeves; she'd toss the jacket if a fight broke out. That was a minor issue. Daresay, she looked good.
It’s a lengthy process, and it takes effort to balance Amelia’s sensibilities with Ty’s and with practicality and with every other factor. She’s hoping it won’t take too much longer, but she’s prepared to do this for as long as it takes to find the right outfit. Even with her… +
Amelia wasn't great with outfits. She'd never developed much of a fashion sense beyond what was expected of her (hence, her wardrobe was dress shirts and jackets). By virtue, she depended on Ty's wisdom. After four or five outfits that involved way too many buttons, Amelia ...

… hopefulness, though, she can’t help but smile as her eyes finally scan up and down on this latest offering—*perfect*. “It looks *amazing*, puppyboy.”
Being a Hand was dangerous, and it afforded one little place for liability; but Ty was always one for pushing her boundaries. With things to plan, she stands and chooses against tossing her cup into the trash, instead making her way over and dunking it in personally with a… +
Amelia hesitated to call them friends for no reason other than the implication. It made you vulnerable. Put another target on your back. And yet that was exactly what they were—friends. Amelia smiled and shrugged. "You never know," she said. "Give me a call, anyway."

… flourish. Ty offers a flirtatious wave to Amelia as she steps towards the door. “I’ll be in touch.”
Ty shrugs and finishes her water off, continuing to hold the cup gingerly. By this point, she and Amelia had tossed favors back and forth without worrying about the final tally; the rare benefit of having an actual friendship. Flexing her free hand, she inspects her nails as… +
"I'll owe you one." Or rather a couple considering how much Tyzena was covering for this job alone. Between networking and cost it was printing quite the bill. At least Amelia didn't feel too bad; this was Ty's idea to begin with. "Should I expect a call?"

… she speaks. “Probably, unless you’re actually going to be at your desk for once.” Her smile is teasing yet again.
She rests her chin on the top of her hand and her head follows the disc as it flies through the air and misses. Besides a quick smirk, she decides not to tease Amelia too much about as she turns back. “Perfect. I’ll get the job set up and then we can go shopping. I’ll pay.”
Amelia crunched the can into a disk before tossing it at the trashcan. It hit the edge and clattered to the floor. Fuck. "I'd like your help," she said. Mara's opinion was important but that could be asked once the outfit was decided on. Tyzena was the most stylish between ...
They all had their quirks, their hangups, their problems; that was how the company liked them. Made them easier to control and exploit. "I can always help you pick something out, if you want. Otherwise... Mara knows you best, I'm sure she can help." Ty flashes her a teasing... +
Better to die together than to die a failure. "I know." Amelia downed the last of her drink (the caffeine went straight to her heart) before cracking a smile. "I don't know what I'd wear." Ideally, a blend of formality and practicality that didn't have any blood on it (to start).

... smile before taking another sip of her rapidly depleting cup.
"Of course it will be, but I know you can multitask." There was no one on the planet Ty fully trusted with her life, but Amelia certainly got the closest; if nothing else, she got a feeling that if she died, they'd die together. She smiles at Amelia conspiratorially. +
"It would still be work, no?" As fun as it could be, Amelia insisted she treat their stint like a regular job. What if l someone made a move on Tyzena? Amelia had to stay focused. If not for her job, then for the sake of protecting a friend. It was her duty. It was all she ...

"Plus, I'm not as helpless as I look, you know."
It proved Ty's point expertly, which is why she resolved to mention it the moment she noticed it. "Perfect. In that case, I look forward to it. We could both use a minor break."
Amelia looked down, about to claim she wore more than stained and tattered shirts, before noticing a few drops of blood on her collar. Not a clue where that came from. Her argument died before it could surface. "If you insist," she said. "I would not refuse."
She nods enthusiastically. "It's a small favor to ask." Really, she might not even need to call in any old favors; a bottle of brandy and some fluttered eyelashes in the right direction would probably get this sorted before the afternoon was out. "Plus, it'll be worth it if... +
"Is it worth the trouble?" It did sound nice. Corporate sent Tyzena to the extravagant parties; even if Amelia had to dress nicely it was worth the effort. Just one night. One night and she might pass for more than a lowly street warrior. Of course it was at the cost of ...

... for nothing else than getting to see you in an outfit that has no holes in or blood on it."
Ty took another sip and shrugged. She'd never had a choice; whether it was this company or another, she'd've been raised in these games from the start. She needed to know how to play them with her eyes closed or she'd wind inevitably up dead in an unmarked grave just out of... +
Amelia hummed, idly flicking the tab of her drink. Ty wasn't wrong and she had a better sense for these sort of things; corporate politics and bureaucracy. Amelia kept her nose out of it beyond the gossip. Mind games, manipulations, had never been her strong suit.

... the city. Amelia at least could rely on strength and fighting skill to get by most of the time. "Maybe not by itself, but you forget that I still have my hands on a couple strings higher up; I can get us a night to unwind."
"You work hard. They just think you're unambitious. In a situation like this, that can be a good thing." It was a fine line to walk in a cutthroat corp like this. Too much ambition and you make waves, step on toes, and make yourself a liability; too little and you look lazy, ...+
"They think I'm lazy." Which she was to blame for. If Amelia wanted to be the golden child she could've been, would've been, had nearly been. It was hard, not impossible. But Amelia didn't want it as much as Isiadora did and everyone knew it. Where did that leave her?

... unmotivated, and they start questioning why they hire you. Of course, that didn't mean they could leave of their own volition, either, so they had to play the game anyways. "If they weren't happy with your work, you'd've had a board meeting about it already."
