Constitution Hill, finished 4th beaten 5.75 lengths in The September Stakes rated 101. The first three home were officially rated 13lb, 16lb and 10lb superior to him. They were all 4 year olds, five years younger than Constitution Hill. Given that the BHA handicapper allows 1.5lb per length over 12 furlongs (a form angle that doesn’t allow for pace variables) and given that Pride of Arras and Gethin’s runs indicate that both have run pretty close to their marks (3lb flip in OR’s), Constitution Hill has actually shown much improved form from his official mark again to finish so close. And that is the angle that I shall be taking out of the race and I believe that he should be fully commended on running so well.
I purely enjoyed every moment and felt so lucky to see you competing, holding my breath at every jump.
You will be terribly missed. Fly high Galopin Des Champs ♥️
What a year, Night of Thunder. What’s next now?

We all very much appreciate all the interest let alone the speculation as to Constitution Hill’s next race, but, between Michael & I and all the team, we have decided, in order to avoid further uncertainty and any possibility of a late withdrawal, to wait for the September Stakes at Kempton a week on Saturday, as opposed to Windsor this weekend.
There are, in fact, several factors apart from the ground that have influenced our decision. Having spoken to jockeys who rode at Windsor last night, and Charlie Rees (Clerk of the Course), who I know is doing everything to combat this dry spell, the chances of the ground being suitable on Saturday are highly unlikely.
Kempton is obviously going to be a highly competitive Group 3, but we have got to start somewhere in order to find out where he belongs and establish an autumn campaign. We are hoping that one of the two jockeys who know him could be available for the September Stakes, which they are unlikely to be this weekend.
We all think he is in excellent shape and although he will undoubtedly benefit from this run he is ready to do himself justice.

Easy to blame #Buick, but everyone clearly could see sacrifice of AOB top class horses to 1) keep Omb in a cage (Action) and 2) Hawk Mountain as a PM. Ground did play a role though
The Juddmonte didn’t go quite as we expected—or maybe as we wanted? Weather and ground played a role, and beyond what Gosden did say, the unpredictable is what makes this sport peerless. Today, weather and ground will make the difference for every jockey, trainer, and punter
Top class Maltese Cross!
Penalty? NO PROBLEM ⬛️🟥
Derby runner-up 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 defies a 5lb penalty in the @SkyBet Great Voltigeur Stakes.
We now have a SHORT-PRICED favourite for the St Leger!

My thoughts on Ebor day1 🏆🐎
Acomb Stakes: Haffner
Voltigeur: Pierre Bonnard
Juddmonte: Ombudsman
Analysis ⬇️
Last one in Goodwood Haffner got beaten by half length in a very Competitive Coral Vintage one and seems to appreciate the Good he’ll find today at York.
Pierre Bonnard is weighted to reverse his year so far, and appreciates Good while I see Christmas Day more keen to act on
