Thank you so much for your keynote lecture last year & your continued support and encouragement!
A true inspiration.
We concluded the 3rd annual conference of the Indian Society for the History of Economic Thought (ISHET) last week @CdsTrivandrum. We discussed HET over several parallel sessions & of course during meals & tea breaks in the beautiful CDS campus. A special note of thanks to @vinojabraham, Emmanuel, Shonima & Anfas from CDS & @Thair_econ & @kr_ashwath from ISHET for their stellar organising. And to Tanisha Hiremath for the work on the posters & website. And immense gratitude to Harro Maas, the keynote speaker. And of course to the presenters who came from across India and abroad.

How to Think About Macroeconomics:
1. Start with accounting identities and balance sheets, not theoretical assumptions.
2. View the economy as a system of interconnected sectors, not a collection of indicators.
3. Strictly distinguish between stocks and flows.
4. Explain economic phenomena through causal mechanisms, not mere correlations.
5. Distinguish between real resource constraints and nominal financial constraints.
6. Do not conflate accounting identities, theoretical hypotheses, and empirical regularities.
7. Analyze economic processes in historical time, accounting for fundamental uncertainty and path dependence.
