The way I've been told my dad was treated as he lay dying in hospital in September 1985 proves all this and more. Dead before the tone deaf ad campaign, making it impossible to speak about what happened. β at New Farnley, England
Mono HCV HAEMOPHILIACS in fact all HAEMOPHILIACS have been let down by the scheme.
Reasons why:-
- Years of state abuse, being studied and used for research without consent.
- Department of Health, Government and clinicians turning a blind eye when risks were known.
- Safer products such as cryro or DDAVP ignored.
- Huge risks taken moving to larger pools.
- Dangerous disease ridden Factor given for non life threatening reasons such as dental work, joint pains etc.
- Clinicians not telling haemophiliacs of their viruses for years so that they could study the spread within families.
- Infected numerous times over and over as children and effecting their education #NotRecognised for HCV haemophiliacs.
- Stigma after the AD campaign run by Government. Which put fear into the wider community. This made EVERY haemophiliac a target. Still to this day people have to keep their haemophiliac status secret because of this. No haemophiliac has truly been compensated.
The above is why we have not been recognised, in the rush to again sweep this under the carpet and to minimise government back lash. A scheme was set up the next day without sitting with haemophiliac campaigners and @katehaemophili1 and the @HaemoSocUK Without understanding. HCV haemophiliacs infected as children have been placed with HCV transfusion patients often given life saving treatment later in life. We are not the same.
We ask the Minister @jamesmurray_ldn and the PM @andyburnham sit down with us. We need to #FinishThisFight that has been going on for decades.

How many more lives could've been saved or people not infected had they not waited... disgusting! β at New Farnley, England
The Department of Health announced additional testing of blood donations for Hepatitis C 35 years ago today, on 16 August 1991.
Routine UK screening began on 1 September 1991.
The Infected Blood Inquiry report said that: "the availability of such a test was announced on 21 April 1989. When the UK introduced one on 1 September 1991 (two and a half years later) it was one of the last developed nations to begin the testing of all blood donations directly for the presence of Hepatitis C infection. Many countries implemented testing on dates between 18 months and 12 months before the UK."

@sainsburys it gets WORSE. Popped in today and this was what I saw. Local environmental health have been updated. Good luck talking your way out of that. Seems nothing much was done on Friday. Hopefully todays manager is a bit more safety concious.

Welcome news. I'm still beyond frustrated they made us wait over 2 months from announcing and this doesn't open until 3 months after. Our dead don't feel to be respected or of any importance to those in Government. β at SantanyΓ, Spain

A rather simple question that can not be explained by @cabinetofficeuk
@NickTorfaen When will victims of #contaminatedblood receive their further interim payments as promised over 2 months ago?
This is not transparency. This is discrimination against the deceased.
