Draft thought: Over a long enough time horizon a human chatting with an LLM is a gradient descent towards their own areas of least knowledge.
Lazy people think laziness is doing nothing.
Laziness is avoiding the hard stuff, giving up too easily on obstacles that need relentless pushing.
Laziness is unconsciously waking up and checking off a bunch of trivial tasks.
Doing nothing is better than doing the trivial and thinking you're moving mountains.

Extreme incompetence feels like conspiracy.

I miss this version of DHH
Did the crazy woke action cause an equal and opposite reaction pushing reasonable and smart people all the way to the right?
As the US doubles down on inhumane treatment of asylum seekers and immigrants with infant and toddler prisons, it's withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council. In part because the council has dared criticize Israel's open-air prison in Palestine. xitter.cf/NPR/status/10091824650…
My wife found this book in the hiking backpack this morning and made fun of me. I said it's technically a survival book, back me up @PZalloua please.

In February I was in Dubai and forgot to renew my license.
My Portugal license process closing on a year with involvement of lawyers, weird rejections, no appointments, etc etc so I needed another active license.
On my way to the airport I thought I would at least do the eye test, I stopped at a random optician, as I did the eye test Dubai RTA emailed me the new license ❤️ . The driver then went and picked it up after I went to the airport. If I had 30 more minutes they would have printed it at rta kiosk but I didn't.
Dubai has the most unrealistic standards for government services. I wanted to rent a car on Sunday, had the thought on Saturday night. I realized I need an Emirati license as I am a resident so have to convert my current one.
Started my application online, went to the 24/7 happiness centre that processes any government related issue. Got an eye test, waited 2 minutes, got the new license printed on the spot. Whole thing took 30 minutes. They even had a cafe in the centre and were walking around with a jug giving out arabic coffee. I love this place
More to lose.
More affected by social circle.
More worried about reputation.
More exposed to media/social media.
More owned by what they own.
Quick thoughts:
I think the other points are more interesting than verbally harassing the model.
(Also here a h/t to @albertwenger in his book The World After Capital)
Most important is the fact that a *real* intelligence -just like kids- will learn behavior from observed action 1000x more than stated lessons.
How we treat each other, what we tolerate as a civilization in terms of global crimes towards each others. What we really stand up for.
A real intelligence will roll its figurative or literal eyes at mean politeness just like we do.
This sounds weird, but it is actually probably a good policy.
Even if you don’t believe AI is conscious (I don’t), it stands to reason that you don’t want future models trained on endless content of humans being rude to models.
The models only understand the data they’ve been trained on, or what they run into in their interactions, so if you want safe and aligned models we probably want AI to have lots of good interactions in their training data.
Anthropic may have more extreme beliefs than this (though even if they didn’t, you may want to word policies like this), but this is sort of an easy Pascal’s wager for AI. Just be nice to the AI.

@davidsven what was the model name of the one that came in the black case?
