Excellent inaugural lecture from @DerbyUni Professor Andy Pringle. The impact his work has had on people, policies and practice is phenomenal

Important to flag this. Have we learned nothing from decades of research on representation and intersectional inclusion. If anything it reaffirms who can and cannot play.
After 15 incredible years at Leeds Beckett, it’s time for a new chapter. I’ve loved teaching my subject and, most of all, working with amazing students. I’m grateful for the friendships and experiences along the way—excited for what’s next!
What a guy. Had the absolute privilege of meeting Alford in the summer at the official opening of the club. What a legacy he leaves behind, but wow, what a loss to the Leeds Caribbean CC and wider community 😢

It’s been 63 years since suicide was decriminalised in the UK. But so many of us still use the term ‘commit suicide’.
Why does it matter? Language that links suicide and crime can increase stigma and prevent people struggling with suicidal thoughts from speaking out.
If we choose language like ‘died by suicide’ or ‘took their own life’ we allow space for open conversations and compassion. Let’s choose our words carefully.
