Chinchillas are currently on the endangered species list due to illegal hunting for the fur trade and loss of habitat.
Their super dense & soft fur has around 60 hairs per follicle (for reference humans only have 2-3) which makes them a prime target for hunters.

The Vegetarian Resource Group has conducted multiple studies through national polls that show most vegans/vegetarians come from low-income households, and Black and Latino people scored higher than white people in terms of being veg. It's not privileged to deny exploitation.
