🐍 Thane | Indian Rock Python rescued after getting entangled in plastic toy
A routine rescue in Thane turned unusual after the Wildlife Welfare Association (WWA) rescued an Indian Rock Python found trapped in a plastic ring toy inside a residential property.
The team safely removed the plastic ring without injuring the snake. After a health check confirmed it was unharmed, the python was released back into its natural habitat.
The incident is a reminder of how discarded plastic waste can pose a serious threat to wildlife. If you spot a wild animal, maintain a safe distance and alert trained rescuers or the Forest Department. Never attempt a rescue yourself.

A rare black panther (melanistic leopard) has been camera-trapped in the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, offering fresh evidence of its presence in the Western Ghats.
Though rarely seen, sightings are rising across Tilari, Radhanagari & Ratnagiri regions with dense, high-rainfall forests ideal for camouflage.
STR Field Director Tushar Chavan calls the landscape a global biodiversity hotspot, while Honorary Wildlife Warden Rohan Bhate clarifies the black coat is a genetic mutation, not a separate species.

In yet another case of animal cruelty, a monkey was shot with an arrow near Yeoor, on the outskirts of Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Thane, raising fresh concerns over wildlife safety in the region.
The incident came to light after a wildlife enthusiast photographed the animal with an arrow lodged in its neck. NGO RAWW, along with Forest Department officials, has launched a search operation to locate and rescue the injured monkey.
This is the second incident in last four days.

बोरिवली येथील संजय गांधी राष्ट्रीय उद्यानातील बिबट्या बचाव व पुनर्वसन केंद्रातील ‘बिट्टू’ (वय ६ वर्षे) या बिबट्याचा शनिवारी (२१ मार्च) मृत्यू झाला.
उद्यान प्रशासनाने दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, बिट्टूला किडनीशी संबंधित गंभीर आजार झाला होता. वैद्यकीय उपचार सुरू असूनही त्याच्या प्रकृतीत सातत्याने अधोगती होत गेली. पशुवैद्यकीय अधिकाऱ्यांनी केलेल्या शवविच्छेदनात मूत्रपिंडात सिस्ट्स आढळून आल्या असून त्याला पॉलिसिस्टीक किडनीसारखा आजार झाल्याचे स्पष्ट झाले आहे. मूत्रपिंड निकामी होत गेल्यामुळे त्याचे इतर अवयवही निकामी होत गेले, अशी माहिती प्रशासनाने दिली.
