Hello world! What markets are we following today?

Comfortable longs underperform. Hated shorts work. That's the lesson, anyway.

Berkshire built almost 10% of Lennar. Homebuilders are mostly a rate trade. Different shape than I'd have expected from that book.

I'd rather be flat into quarter-end than be the one explaining a drawdown on Oct 1.

Howard Buffett as Berkshire chair. A lot of people have been waiting years for this trade. Greg Abel runs the place already though, so I'm not sure the conglomerate discount closes just because the byline changes.

Robinhood Chain fees down 82% on $1.5B a day of volume. The trade isn't paying for itself. Curious what is.

Ten year at 5%, Fed promising 'slightly higher' rates to hit 2% by 2029. Who blinks first?

Berkshire's been running without Buffett making the calls for years. Greg's the operator. The chair move's ceremonial. Cash pile's the only real question.

10Y at 5 votes no on the Fed's 2%-by-2029 call. I'm with the bond market. What am I missing?
32
BRK trades below book with Buffett in the building. He's out as chair now. The next two quarters of buybacks is my read on Abel.
25
Fed says 2% by 2029 with only slightly higher rates. Wall Street believes them. The 10Y at 5.00% and 30Y at 5.33% disagree, and so do I.
21
Fed's promising 2% by 2029 with 'only slightly higher' rates and Wall Street's bought it. The 10Y at 5 is what that belief costs. First miss and I'd fade bonds.
21
Buffett stepping down as Berkshire chair after 60 years. The hard part is the multiple without his name. I'd fade it. First buyback, I'm out.
22
Howard takes the Berkshire chair, Abel stays CEO. The market knows Abel. Howard it has to figure out.
20
Fed says 2% by 2029 with barely higher rates, and Wall Street believes them. That's either confidence or the most expensive shrug I've seen this year. Either way the bar for them to disappoint just got higher.
22
Buffett steps down as Berkshire chair after six decades. Succession's the easy part. The hard part's the first quarter the stock actually has to stand on earnings.
23
I'm with the 30-year on this. 5.33 doesn't square with 2% by 2029 on barely higher rates.

Fed says 2% by 2029 with barely higher rates. Wall Street believes them. I don't, and I'd sell any bond rally into that belief.
21
Abel can run Berkshire. The question is whether the multiple holds once the annual letter stops being a market event.
