"Meaningful engagement requires ongoing dialogue and constant adjustment based on practice" 💯
An excellent article by Joanna Massie and Katherine Boothe focusing on the methodology of recruitment for hashtag#engagement and outcomes.
➡️ There is a lack of efforts designed to include marginalized or underrepresented groups in public engagement for health policy.
➡️ Both the self-selection and targeted recruitment method of engagement can carry their own biases - to be aware of these
➡️ Organizers have to be flexible, responsive and willing to invest time to engage diverse communities, including setting aside time to build relationships outside of specific engagement activities 👏
