"Loneliness can impact not just one age, gender or life circumstance, but a wide range of people all over the UK. Fifteen per cent even admit they'd be happy to buy someone's drinks in the pub all night, just to have some company." #EndLoneliness mirror.co.uk/lifestyle/healt…

While it might seem intimidating to branch out of loneliness, it can do wonders for your health, attitude, and mindset. Even if you’re not lonely, think about what you can do to work on the relationships you have and help others who might be feeling isolated.

What a lovely thing to do and remind us of. That is one of my favourite poems too, especially since I lost my Dad. I try to always make the effort for a bit of chat, but you proved how important it is to go that extra step. Thanks for sharing. Have a lovely weekend. 😊

Such an important thing to engage with older people. An elderly friend of mine once told me that sometimes they felt “Invisible & I thought how utterly awful that must be. Everyone deserves to be visable and involved.

I worked in a cafe for many years and so often elderly people came in for the company and I was quick to realise you may be the only person they chat to that day. Your so kind to give your time x – at Malta

let’s start a new movement of “JUST SAY HELLO” ~ the elderly are so forgotten and rendered silent in today’s world of everyone rushing around. “How are you” may be the only enquiry experienced in days. Time runs out for us all so be kind.

Wonderful campaign and thank you for reminder to check in on my elderly neighbours ❤️ it only takes a minute 👍 I chat regularly to a elderly neighbour who loves our pup and lives alone - she brightens his day ❤️ #MakeYourMinutesCount – at Dublin City, Ireland

It only takes a few minutes to make someone's day. When we introduce an older person to their volunteer, or show them around their new home, it can change their life. Make your minutes count by supporting our work on alone.ie. Huge thanks to Marian for her support!

We're thrilled to launch our Christmas campaign, 'Make your minutes count' with @MarianKeyes today! 1 in 10 people over 75 are lonely a lot of the time. We're asking everyone to reach out to older people they know, to donate on alone.ie/donate, or sign up to volunteer.
