Hitler's chief of the Wehrmacht's military intelligence on the eastern front, Reinhard Gehlen, was thereafter hired by the CIA (OSS) to run American Intelligence in Europe. Gehlen brought the immense Nazi spy network into the American fold. The Gehlen Organisation established close cooperation with Ukrainian nationalists and fascists for intelligence gathering, undermining social cohesion, and for propaganda purposes through Radio Free Europe. Notably, Hitler's Chief of Staff, Adolf Heusinger, became the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee in 1961-1964.
