We're proud to share that Kimball Midwest and Locus Robotics won Best Use of Robotics at the 2026 Supply Chain Excellence Awards USA.
The recognition reflects what happens when automation is applied to solve real operational challenges.
With Locus Robotics, Kimball Midwest increased their picking productivity by approximately 45% and improved putaway productivity by more than 100% while maintaining its 99.9% same-day shipping standard for orders received by 4 p.m.
The operation also reduced training from weeks to hours, eliminated dependence on temporary labor, and made warehouse work easier for associates.

Kimball Midwest was doubling in size every five years, and putaway needed to keep pace without a major facility redesign.
With Locus Robotics, the team improved putaway productivity by 100%+, with some facilities moving from ~30 to 90+ lines/hour. Picking productivity improved by about 45%, onboarding dropped from days or weeks to minutes or hours, and the team maintained 99.9% same-day shipping.
By combining putaway and picking in one flexible workflow, Kimball Midwest kept inventory moving, scaled throughput, and gave managers more control as demand shifted.
