I would love for my peers to understand this fully - no one is so important that they can "black list" you in VO. No one. For every self important actor, director, or CD, there are thousands of other clients and peers who have NO idea who they are or why they think they supposedly matter. You are not going to get along with everyone - that is just part of life. Sometimes you are going to meet people with "power" that are just crappy humans. Your best course of action is to surround yourself with good people with good intentions. We need to call out poor behavior when we see it - and do it loudly. People who believe they are the arbiters of who does and does not get to work in this industry are woefully mistaken. I know there are groups of folks who discuss in the back channels about actors; they actively try to harm their ability to find work, especially in the Texas Anime area. When I encounter it, I have 0 problem loudly telling anyone who will listen who they are and why they need to be taken to task. Being a good person - a righteous person - the kind of person people can trust and lean on - a protector - a helping hand - that is who we all need to strive to be. Gigs be damned. Just because someone doesn't like someone else does not mean they should be actively trying to sabotage them. Just because someone is "popular" or "connected" does not give them a free pass to abuse the people around them. The dark has to hide from the light - so open up the curtains and let some sun shine on people who need it. Narcissism and Ego have no place in VO. Vindictive and petty nonsense has no place in our industry. If people within our community cannot stand the sight of their own reflection, then THEY need to make the adjustment - stop compromising yourselves for minor personal gain!
