ALT A one-man play focusing on the self-imposed exile of Oscar Wilde's beau, Bosie (Lord Alfred Bruce Douglas) has been shunned from London's High Society as Wilde's scandalous story unfolds towards trial. In a Parisian salon, May 1895, Bosie contemplates his own story. Ruminating on his sexuality and prowess, his hunger for position and status, Bosie explores his journey in homosexuality and relationships. Shocking, abrasive and, at times, downright uncouth the devilish details of his dalliances and affairs come to the fore - but at what point will he accept some responsibility for his current situation? Written and performed by Rik Barnett, the first staged iteration took place at The Hope Mill Theatre in 2017 as part of their Powerhouse Plays venture to great acclaim, and has since undergone some significant development to the production you will see here. This outing is directed by Tuirenn Hurstfield and produced by Northern Rep Theatre. https://manchester.ssboxoffice.com/events

ALT Me/Not Me 11-13 July at Lock 91. There's nothing worse than a navel-gazing poet. After all, who wants to spend a whole hour in the company of a wordsmith who is utterly obsessed with omphaloskepsis? Which is why Paul Jenkins is only giving you that 50% of the time. He thinks. It's hard to tell. I mean, where does the poet stop and the characters start? How are we to distinuguish the art-farty word nonsense from the truth of the matter? Lots of rhetorical questions. Relatively few concrete anawers. But at least we'll laugh, we'll think and we may even learn something together along the way. Maybe.
