We need this, but we also need something ubiquitous for all of our citizens. Access to technology is not a solved equation in America and it might not be sexy but internet cafes and LAN centers will be a significant variable in solving it. It's not a coincidence that internet cafes are prolific in the geographies we desire to recruit from the most. They are a ridiculously under appreciated onramp to technology careers and we would be better off if there was one in every town in America. Thanks to esports and video games, we're finally seeing an explosion of internet cafes here in the US. Video games are the perfect trojan horse to bring internet cafes into pop culture which would provide the single largest funnel for technology talent we have at our disposal. How many of the most revered founders and innovators of our generation got their intro to technology because of video games? @elonmusk @PalmerLuckey both did. A national network of digitally connected tech community centers is needed if we want to raise the capabilities of the masses.
