Today, we joined California, federal, international and nonprofit representatives near the border to celebrate a state-funded pilot project to intercept debris that flows from Mexico into the Tijuana River, clogging the channel and contributing to chronic water quality problems.
The State Water Board financed the $4.7 million project, which features floating trash booms made partially from recycled material.
Attendees included @CaliforniaEPA Deputy Secretary for Intergovernmental Relations Sabine Talaugon; State Water Board member Nichole Morgan; SD Regional Water Board EO David Gibson; @usibwc's Sally Spener; and Suzanne Anarde-Devenport, chief executive officer of the nonprofit @RCACorg, which oversees the project.

Hope isn’t waiting or wishing—it’s truth told, action taken, and change demanded. As Greta Thunberg reminds us, hope doesn’t come from power; it comes from people who refuse to stand still. The future is ours to shape. #ActOnClimate

KUDOS to our Construction/ Green Build Team for their amazing work on the Ocean Beach Fence Project.
Crews are working to get nearly 300 fence poles two feet into the sand. The poles are then strung with rope through a hole at the top to create the fence.

🗳️🗳️Today in Sacramento, local firefighters, clean water advocates, and experts stood with @Mayor_Steinberg and @SenatorAshby to urge voters to vote #YesonProp4!
ELECTION 2024: Sacramento @Mayor_Steinberg, Sen. @AngeliqueAshby (D-Sacramento), CAL FIRE Firefighters Union Local 2881 leaders, and environmental activists are gathering in Capitol Park to urge voters to vote yes on Prop 4.
If approved by voters, #Prop4 will allow the State of California to borrow $10 billion in general obligation bonds for climate-related projects.
Of that $10 billion, about $6 billion would be used for programs addressing wildfire mitigation, forest management, sea level rise, green energy, land conservation, and parks. The other $4 billion will go toward water, including water storage and flood protection.
Supporters argue the proposal is necessary to help the state address climate change.
On the flip side, opponents stress bonds have to be paid back over time — often with interest. This, they allege, is poor fiscal policy because California taxpayers will end up owing more money than what was originally borrowed.
