IAFF Local 22 mourns the heartbreaking loss of our Brother in Blue, Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. A devoted husband, father of two young children, and dedicated public servant who left home to protect Philadelphians and tragically never returned. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with his grieving family, his brothers and sisters of the Philadelphia Police Department, and the officer wounded alongside him. May God bring strength and comfort to his loved ones during this unimaginable tragedy. Rest in eternal peace, Brother. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.💙🖤

IAFF Local 22 members responded to a dangerous scene early this morning after a vehicle crashed into a building on East Lehigh Avenue in Kensington, striking a gas meter and sparking a significant fire. Our firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control while facing the additional dangers of a natural gas leak. Sadly, one person lost their life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family. This tragedy is another reminder of how quickly lives can change. We urge everyone to slow down and drive responsibly. Excessive speed puts drivers, pedestrians, and our first responders at risk. Our members continue to answer the call, no matter the hour or the danger. SLOW DOWN. DRIVE SAFELY. SAVE LIVES.

Yesterday, IAFF Local 22 members responded to a devastating fire on the 4400 block of Fleming Street in Manayunk with people and pets trapped inside. Our members immediately went to work, aggressively attacking the fire and rescuing four people and three dogs from the home. Sadly, despite their efforts, one victim and one of the dogs later passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, their loved ones, and everyone affected by this tragedy. We are incredibly proud of our firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs who answer the call every day, especially on the most difficult days.

Irby was also a former firefighter at Engine 50-Ladder 12, also known as the North Philly Cowboys. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fellow brothers and sisters of the department during this difficult time. IAFF Local 22 Firefighters, Paramedics, and EMTs have been working nonstop to keep our city safe during the America 250 celebrations, FIFA soccer events, concerts, parades, and fireworks in 100+ degree temperatures . On top of that, our members have been rescuing stranded residents from floodwaters. As always, they put themselves in harm's way to save others. If you see one of our members, take a moment to thank them. They continue to show up for Philadelphia every single day, even when it feels like Mayor Parker doesn't show them the appreciation she shows police officers. – at Philadelphia, PA

IAFF Local 22 would like to thank DC 33 members along with President Greg Boulware for their hard work to keep the streets clear. DC 33’s efforts are vital in snow storms, enabling our members in fire apparatus and medic units to respond to citizens’ emergencies. 🚒🚑🔥❄️

Citizens, please be aware that the City has put in place an ill-advised plan during the snow emergency. They are having police officers certified as EMTs respond to medical and trauma dispatches normally handled by IAFF Local 22 paramedics and EMTs. We have no idea what equipment and experience they may have or if they even know the correct hospital to take patients to. We also believe  that State Law states that patients should be transported in certified medic units, not police vehicles. Be careful out there and stay safe.
