Fright Night (1985)

Roddy McDowall delivering a genuinely great dramatic performance against the backdrop of a typical (but fun) 80s teen horror-comedy. Chris Sarandon's vampiric swagger and those goopy practical effects are so much fun to watch. The third act is just perfect. Classic!

Final Destination (2000)

The metaphysical concept of death catching up to those who evade it with increasingly contrived apparent mishaps. Blood clots get boring; everyone needs a hobby, I guess? Conceptually intriguing and the ridiculous kills are fun, but the stretches in between can drag a bit.
