Another example that software shouldn't be developed in isolation from the hardware.🦆
CPU performance matters and worker thread count is an integral part of the performance equation. Measuring your game’s CPU performance on a matrix of CPUs and adjusting the thread count to fit workloads can produce large double-digit performance gains. nvda.ws/48w29K9

“While AI leads to benefits, from cost & time savings to improved outputs & aid in creativity, IT IS NOT WITHOUT ITS CONCERNS.” WTAF! GenAI, at least as presently developed, is a death sentence for creatives—not some secondary concern. @ayeshakhanna1 forbes.com/sites/forbestechc…

Impressive mesh! (I mean it) ... gosh...I somehow couldn't help thinking about the scenario where hackers get the map of one's house and sell it to thieves...🤦🦆
Under the hood visionOS creates a full floor plan of your space as you use it, and labels everything (floor, ceiling, chairs, etc). This is no joke. Most people dont realize the foundations in place here that will unlock a wide possibility of experiences.

A number of gen AI companies have suggested they’re surprised they’re being called out for training on copyrighted work without consent, as if this would be a rewriting of copyright law and an unfair change of course they couldn’t have predicted. This is not true. First, it’s not a change in the law, but an application of existing law. Second, they have always known they would be called out on it one day. I know - I remember looking at this exact question eight years ago when I was running one of these companies. They have always known there was a risk their training in this way would be shut down. Regulators shouldn’t be convinced into thinking otherwise.

I've hardly been able to code since October, as I'm finishing my doctoral thesis and defenses. Everything will be over by next week. I can't wait any longer!

It's more than fair to ask. 🦆 #AI #Sora
Yes @OpenAI new text-to-video is impressive but here's 5 questions that journos & the public should be asking--relentlessly. 1. When will you release the datasets used for training this system so we know whose data was captured w/o consent & in potential copyright violation?+

"Human #Metaverse Medicine" I'm sold! I find it interesting though that the usage of the word "metaverse" illustrated by the subjects and the talks in this symposium is (very) different from its usage in tech.
We are pleased to announce the International Symposium on “Frontiers in Human Metaverse Medicine,” scheduled to take place at Osaka University Nakanoshima Center in Osaka, Japan, from the 29th of February to the 1st of March 2024. prime.osaka-u.ac.jp/news/974…

I’d really like to see more people from AI carefully considering this question of resources and not simply dismissing it with authority “AI just need more time.#” ok, sure, how long is that? Will it be before or after the temperature of the planet rises by 2°C? 3°C?… 4°C? 🦆🥵
When do we stop falling for AI hype and wasting resources? We know these systems fundamentally cannot scale functionally without consuming astronomical resources. Can we just stop and start thinking carefully for ourselves again? xitter.cf/IrisVanRooij/status/16…
