Just finished this one. Incredibly ambitious. An absolute must read for those of a literary mind. Well done @LitMiddle (Caleb Caudell).

If intrigued by the flowering of independent literature in 2026, and somehow don’t know Caudell’s work, you MUST seize a copy of this, it’s truly phenomenal, grabs you from the first, and shows that good stories can still be told in new ways, even in our degraded age.
I have some copies of my newest novel, The Quarrymen. Equal parts narrative and essay, heavily influenced by Faulkner, Proust, Antunes, and Musil. If interested in a signed copy for $20, let me know

We’ve got some high quality literary freaks here in hoosierland
Got a cup of coffee today with @LitMiddle and we swapped books. Jumped right into his and man, it’s really good. Starting to think Indiana is the hot place for lit right now. We got @filet_o_calvin up north, Brian Allen Carr in the middle. Calvin in the south. Hoosiers have it.

I never review books so I understand why people tend not to, but it is one of those things, which, in addition to word of mouth, really does convert and aid in discovery online. This is the arena of indie literature. This is the struggle of indie literature. Our struggle. Nails.
Too much hype and attention all at once is evil, it totally distorts the reception of a work. I think authors often feel envious of those who seem to receive more recognition/praise, but it’s really not a good thing, it generates chains of backlash and drive by commentary

a partial defense and counterattack on behalf of autofiction, along with some ugly exposure

I thought the problem with autofiction was the flat, ironic waffling and insincerity. But here we are scoffing at cusk earnestly stumbling through an attempt to share real sentiments. If this scene was in one of her books people would think it brilliant
