🇺🇸 This is the part of the story that actually hits a paycheck. President Trump said he and Vladimir Putin agreed that Russia will put more than 300,000 metric tons of diesel on the American and global market right away. That is about 2.25 million barrels, not 300,000 gallons. Another 500,000 tons is pledged for November, and 1 million tons after that, if the refineries can deliver. Treasury is not waiting on a press conference. At Trump’s direction, OFAC issued a temporary license the same day so that fuel can move. It stacks on the red-dye diesel order and the fuel already being pulled in from Europe. Why it matters here: national diesel was $6.28 a gallon on Thursday, near the late-September record. Farmers, ranchers, and truckers pay that before a grocery price ever moves. After the announcement, U.S. diesel futures fell more than 4%, and New York Harbor wholesale diesel was down about 4.5%. Analysts are right that this first shipment will not fix a tight market by itself. It is still real supply in a market that has had too little of it. The pump number will lag the futures number.
