We have begun delivering travel RVs to displaced residents, including Debbie who will now be able to remain on her property while her home is fixed.
Since Hurricane Isaias made landfall, we have been working to ensure that those affected by this storm have the assistance they need to get back on their feet. We are operating seven Multi-Agency Resource Centers where Floridians can learn about available assistance and get connected with recovery resources.
Thanks to our partnership with Emergency RV, we have started providing travel trailers to Floridians displaced by significant hurricane damage, so they have a safe place to live while they rebuild. We’re also committed to helping the first responders whose homes were impacted by the storm and still showed up to serve their communities. With funding from the Florida Sheriffs Association, we are providing these first responders with $5,000 each to show our gratitude.
Schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties have reopened and resumed normal operations. We’re grateful for the hard work of school teams, transportation crews, and all our partners who helped make them safe for students and staff.

A plane carrying a mother, father, and their two teenage daughters crashed into a tree in a Florida neighborhood and caught fire. As smoke poured from the wreckage, four neighbors rushed toward the burning aircraft armed with an axe, a hammer, and a fire extinguisher. But to save the family inside, they would have to fight their way into a burning aircraft before the flames spread.
It happened in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The family was approaching a nearby airport when their plane crashed into a tree outside someone’s home.
Hearing the impact, four neighbors rushed outside to find smoke rising from the wreckage and the family trapped inside.
Without hesitation, they grabbed tools and began smashing through the damaged cockpit, managing to pull the father and his two teenage daughters to safety, but the mother was still trapped inside.
With flames spreading quickly, some fought the fire using a garden hose and extinguisher while the others desperately worked to break through the twisted metal and reach her.
Finally, they pulled her free, saving all four family members.
Without these neighbors risking their own lives, this could have ended in tragedy. Instead, an entire family is alive because four ordinary people refused to stand by.
Let’s give these everyday heroes the recognition they deserve.

4. High Mobility
Because they are mounted on rugged Humvee tactical vehicles, they offer immense deployment flexibility. They can fire while stationary or on the move, and can easily be placed on transport ships or barges—as seen here—to establish an immediate defense perimeter over water where land assets cannot go.

The Air Force airman who fell during the pregame rappel at the Alamodome Saturday night has died.
He was with the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2, the unit at JBSA-Camp Bullis that trains Tactical Air Control Party airmen. Those are the guys who go out with soldiers and Marines and call in air support from the ground.
Four of them were coming down from the rafters before UTSA played Navy at the Salute to Armed Forces & Veterans game. Per the Express-News, partway down he slid down the rope out of control and hit the field. SAFD took him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A Nellis AFB spokesperson confirmed he died.
The Air Force hasn't released his name. The incident is under investigation.
He showed up to honor the people who serve and gave his life doing it. Rest easy, Airman.
Keep his family and his unit in your prayers.

His wife was preparing dinner when her husband's colleague called. He had gone to a stadium for a military demonstration. Now, she was being told he would never come home.
That morning, he had kissed their little daughter goodbye and promised to bring her something nice. She had asked for chocolate. His wife reminded him not to come home too late because they had plans for the weekend.
He laughed and said, “I'll be back before you know it.”
During the event, the serviceman lost control while descending from the stadium rafters. He was rushed for medical attention, but he didn't survive.
His daughter kept asking why Daddy hadn't returned. His wife couldn't bring herself to explain that the man who left home in uniform that morning would never walk through their door again.
The stadium had been filled with people celebrating those who serve. But somewhere, a family was suddenly learning what it means to lose someone while he is simply doing his job.
How often do we remember the families who wait at home, trusting that their loved ones will return safely?

As an Air Force vet, this one hurts.
Last night in San Antonio, 23,000 fans packed the Alamodome for UTSA vs. Navy on Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans night. Four airmen climbed to the rafters to rappel down and kick it off. Halfway down, one of them lost control.
The band stopped. The crowd went dead silent. The only word anyone got was a call for prayers.
He didn't make it.
He was an instructor who trained young airmen to go out with soldiers and Marines and call in air support when things get ugly. He spent his days getting others ready for the worst. And he died on a night meant to say thank you to people like him.
Somewhere tonight a family got the knock nobody wants. Pray for them.

The Catholic priest who died after a crucifix fell on him was talking about how everyone will be dead one day and the importance of giving your life to God.

My coworker's mother passed away last November.
She left her modest $190,000 house to him clear and free, no mortgage, completely paid off after thirty years of factory work.
