This is abhorrent. Elections don’t have to be about cruelty and lies. South Carolina deserves better. I urge voters to look at the merits of each candidate and cast their vote accordingly. We must reject politics based on division and hate. While South Carolinians can strongly disagree with one another, we can do so civilly and with honest intentions for the betterment of our communities and well being of our families.

I sat down with some of South Carolina’s veterans to hear directly about the challenges they face accessing the care they earned — and the conversation was powerful, honest, and emotional.
No one who served this country should have to fight another battle just to get a doctor’s appointment, receive mental-health support, or navigate a broken system at the VA.
We owe our veterans more than gratitude. We owe them action: better access to care, shorter wait times, stronger mental-health services, and a VA that treats every veteran with the dignity and urgency they deserve.
I’m grateful to everyone who shared their story with me. I’ll carry those voices with me to the Senate.

📺 President @JoeBiden was back out in D.C. yesterday at the Howard Theatre honoring his longtime friend Lee Saunders, the former AFSCME president who just wrapped up nearly 50 years in the labor movement, including 14 years running the union.
@DrBiden was there. Rev. Al Sharpton was there. Labor leaders and longtime friends filled the room.
And Biden and Saunders go WAY back.
AFSCME’s executive board unanimously endorsed Biden in 2020. Saunders served on the Biden-Sanders economic unity task force. The union mobilized its members across the country for the Biden-Harris ticket.
Saunders remained one of Biden’s most reliable allies throughout his presidency, publicly backing the American Rescue Plan, infrastructure investments, and his pro-union agenda. AFSCME endorsed Biden again in 2023.
He had 46’s back.
And Biden never forgot it.
Biden even publicly called Saunders “a great friend.”
Say what you will about Joe Biden, but he shows up for the people who showed up for him.
I’ve always admired that about him.
