A Savannah police officer gave her Flock login to her husband.
Her husband is an ICE agent.
He ran 983 license plate searches.
Across six states.
788 were in South Carolina.
Mostly looking for cars registered to Hispanic owners.
An investigator asked her: "Did you run these searches?"
She said no.
Then admitted it was her husband.
Her husband said: "Every name that I ever ran was an ICE target."
Translation: I was using the police department's surveillance system to hunt people.
She got fired. Along with five other Savannah PD employees.
All for Flock misuse.
ICE is investigating its own agent.
Which means nothing will happen to him.
Georgia law apparently lets Savannah police share plate data with ICE.
But Savannah never agreed to that.
So she just decided it was fine.
Gave him the password.
He turned it into a deportation tool.
Now there's a paper trail showing Flock was used to target Hispanic drivers across state lines.
Using a police officer's credentials.
With her knowledge.
The surveillance network designed to catch criminals became a hunting tool for immigration enforcement.
One password away from working.

Reminder for anyone worrying about this: armed agents at the polls is a crime, not a gray area. The law doesn’t care what uniform they’re wearing.
If you see it, write down where and when, take a photo if it’s safe, and call 866-OUR-VOTE.

Dolly Parton on her Imagination Library program that Republicans defunded:
"[My daddy] was the smartest man I have ever known, but I knew [...] his inability to read probably kept him from seeing all of his dreams come true. Inspiring kids to love to read became my mission."

Even in the unlikely event that AI ever became capable of producing high-quality music and fiction, we must still refuse to engage with it. Regardless of its potential utilities in STEM, AI has no place in the humanities. Art is for human beings.

Men (and yes, some women): no more body shaming. Big or small, short or tall, none of us are beautiful if we tear others down to build ourselves up.
Sincerely,

Senator Raphael Warnock's proposal to ban private equity firms from buying up single-family homes is now federal law.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The claim that Senator Warnock's proposal “banned private equity from owning single-family homes” is false.
The new law caps the number of single-family homes that can be owned by private equity at 350, it is not a ban.

There’s an episode from Cheers where Frasier and another guy are quoting from Richard II and Cyrano de Bergerac.
34 million Americans watched this episode.

The most telling thing about this article is they could only get quotes from third-tier Republican state legislators who couldn't get elected dogcatcher without rigged districts, but not one statewide winner - because they all assume @RoyCooperNC will be their next Senator.

America has never been susceptible to communism. It has always been susceptible to fascism.
Know your history. Know your context. Know smokescreens when you see them.
The threat of communism has always been a smokescreen used by fascists in America.

They want you to believe your voice doesn't matter.
Yet in just the last few days:
-LAPD canceled its Flock contract.
-Meta cancelled Muse Image AI after privacy outrage.
-One of the largest planned U.S. data centers was killed (PW Digital Gateway) by local opposition.
The surveillance state isn't inevitable.
It advances when people are apathetic.
It retreats when people fight back.
Public pressure works. Keep pushing.

The trick to getting kids reading again is the same as it ever was: cram every available surface of your home with books, limit their access to brain-destroying technology, wait for them to get bored and watch them flourish both spiritually and intellectually.

Isn't it funny how the mainstream media suddenly loses interest when the truth destroys one of its favorite anti-Biden narratives.
Yes, you read that right: @HunterBiden won a defamation case over bullshit claims that he was corrupt.
And remember the FBI informant who claimed Joe and Hunter Biden took bribes from Burisma? He pleaded guilty to lying. But you probably didn't know that because it only made it to the back page headlines at the time.
The press gave the accusations endless headlines and wall-to-wall coverage. But when the stories collapse, the accusers are exposed, and the Bidens are vindicated?
Crickets.
Because the lie was profitable. The truth was inconvenient.
The lie gets the headline. The Bidens get smeared. The truth gets buried.

Ten years ago you could make jokes about Jane Eyre and Dracula on twitter and most people would get them; nowadays I have to explain references to Alice in Wonderland and The Hobbit as if we’re living in a very on-the-nose film adaptation of Fahrenheit 451.

This is just wildly corrupt.
This is absolutely bonkers: newly uncovered text messages reveal that Republican operatives INSIDE the North Carolina State Board of Elections are secretly collaborating with the NC Republican Party to force local elections officials to obey partisan directives - or be fired.
This is a smoking gun: @DallasWoodhouse, the disgraced former leader of the NCGOP who Republicans nevertheless hired to help run the State Board of Elections, is working hand-in-hand with NCGOP legal counsel to pressure officials and even arrange votes.

Be selective as f*ck who you let in your brain today.
Survivors of verbal, mental, & emotional abuse specifically are used to being "hacked" in coercive, manipulative ways that many people don't understand or believe. No shame, not your fault-- just start noticing the strings.
