A bike tour of Ottawa, showcasing impressive bike infrastructure, protected intersections, the Chief William Commanda Bridge, & the Trillium Pathway before Question Period, meeting with MP Sonia Sidhu, & a birthday dinner in ByWard Market.

Typical police victim blaming and addressing the message to the vulnerable person rather than the dangerous one. @PeelPolice need to address the dangerous drivers and do their job to get dangerous drivers off the road.
Don’t be a pedestrian zombie. 📱🛑
That quick scroll or loud music can block out what matters most - your surroundings.
Stay alert at every intersection:
• Head up, scan both ways
• Turn the volume down
• Check the walk signal - don’t assume a green light means go
Look up. Listen. Verify. 👇

Our Ottawa trip began with a stop at a water-access-only cottage before continuing east. We explored Ottawa on foot discovering protected intersections, visiting Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, and heritage architecture

Me riding to Brampton City Hall to delegate again against bike lane removals. This is Howden which was reverted to 4 lanes for cars by ripping out 1 of only 3 protected lanes in the city.
As you can see the road is full of cars /s

Irony is dead. Councillor Palleschi just read out a bike month proclamation

It’s crossing guard appreciation week
You know what keeps crossing guards and children safer? Roads narrowed by bike lanes

Council continues removing bike lanes, including the protected bike lanes on Howden Boulevard, despite staff advice and public consultation. If residents who support cycling stay silent, our cycling network will continue disappearing. lisastokes.ca/2026/05/i-am-l…

@Metrolinx Why are there still construction barrels on the cycle tracks along Finch West LRT at every intersection? Also the cycle tracks are full of debris and haven’t been swept this spring

After breakfast, we traveled into Amsterdam, walked along canals, and explored the Rijksmuseum, learning about The Night Watch. We wandered markets, admired architecture, and ended the day tired but satisfied, with a friendly hotel cat visiting us.

We arrived at the airport together, checked bags quickly, and watched a brief sunset before boarding. In Amsterdam, efficient transit, bicycles everywhere, a welcoming hotel, and a peaceful walk set the tone for our trip with plans for a museum tomorrow.

Here’s a video of the Charter Challenge Victory Bike Rally. It has a catchy AI generated song, and finishes with the quiet and sweet sound of bike tires on the road, which can be heard because there were no cars around.

@GOtransitKT I used the 19:04 train with my bike from Union to Bramalea GO on Thursday night. I boarded from the York Street end. The platform is announced only 10 minutes before the train leaves.

I think it would be better for all passengers, not just those with bikes, to provide this information to people travelling with their bikes.
I cannot understand GO Transit’s reluctance to provide this information
#BikeBrampton #GoTrain
When I disembarked at Bramalea GO and walked along the train to the stairs I saw that there was a bike couch in this train set.
